How close to the S70/2 (McLaren F1 engine) is the S54

After reading Jem’s thread about the S54 and Buzyg saying the S54 is half a McLaren F1 engine, does anyone here know how close they are? Is the S54 one bank of the S70/2?

It's much closer to the S50 (as used in the E36 M3 and Z3M) which was contemporary with the S70.

No, hence being semi dry not dry...

The only 'somewhat reoccuring' definition I've seen, which also actually has some relevance to both dry sump and normal sump is that 'semi' dry sump has a scavenging pump that pumps the oil coming from the underside of the block to a baffled sump that is located underneath the engine (like a normal sump). So with a scavenging pump like all dry sump systems have but without the external reservoir (like all dry sumps also have)
But the s54 doesn't have a scavenging pump afaik. Or has it?

The standard s54 sump and oil pump has a dual pickup which scavenges oil from the front of the sump and drops it into the deep well at the back where the main oil pickup is to keep it from running dry. Clever to have done this with a single geared pump unit
