House Hunt UK (sorted)

best way to find any number is yell.com, it's basically a telephone directory

quick search gives:

Well oil is sorted, I have net now. Everything is pretty much sorted.

Now though, (here comes the pretty much), my oven is brand new, when I turn it on it puts out an odor. I've looked on the website and the brochure (it's a candy brand oven) both say that this is normal, the website says that the odor is normal (from the seals or bonding agent from the manufacture) and to run the oven for an hour and it should go away.
It hasn't. Has anyone had any experience with Candy ovens? I've ran it twice now at max temperature for an hour and the odor still has not gone away. I'm a few days from calling the maintenance folk again.

it'll just be extra glue or something, id leave it going for a good while and see.

glad the car passed the MOT ! :)

Yep, passed with no advisories too. Although, the mechanic at my garage said my fan belts are getting cracked pretty bad....which is true.

I'm not taking the piss here... honestly.

Run it at max temp for an hour.. then, place some charcoal (your average bbq charcoal) into a metal foil lined baking tray.
Place the tray in the oven immediately, whilst it's still hot, then leave overnight (with the cooker turned OFF).

In the morning, bin the charcoal and your oven should smell odorless.

at least, this is what worked for my new oven (idea was passed to me from my nan... the best place for wisdom!)

Sweet, I'll try it tommorow. Makes sense, charcoal has a ton of uses. Thanks a bunch!

no worries.. hope it works for you too :D

Think it has something to do with the carbon..

If you can find "activated charcoal", then this works better than your standard bbq stuff.. but I think it can be a bit more pricey.
If that fails, a bowl of vinegar overnight (with the oven cool) should also work.

God.. why do I know this crap?? lol

Im sure i read somewhere that you could spec fart absorbing head liners in some merc's, and iirc that was something to do with it containing carbon.

think you're refering to the charcoal filter that sat between the inside and outside parts of the ventilation system :)
