Booked in at BMW Dick Lovett Swindon for Oct 3rd .Quick call today to check if any problems, confirmed parts are available and all ok for the 3rd.
Job completed Yesterday No problems .Loan car was a bit un-expected 3 series model M 2.0 i . Nice ride Surprisingly they weren't interested in a straight swop ?

Well I've had some good news today, they've told me there us a fresh shipment of bolts coming, so just waiting for a confirmation phone call next week to get it booked in

Had mine done in Oxford on 4th October. It’s a two day job just as they need the engine to be stone cold so that nothing warps, so day one is just drop it off with them and leave it overnight to ensure it’s cold.

They had the parts, no mention of a shortage. Had an oil leak straight afterwards as they damaged a gasket, so they replaced that a couple of days later too when I bought it back (again, left it overnight to cool)

Both times I had an M135i courtesy car, that was fun!

Reason why i never took my car for the battery cable recall. Don't want BMW buggering up car.
Keep getting the letters.
My car has done 105k miles, no problems......

Well had my car into Soper BMW at Lincoln this week. They had it two days, and let me have a new 520i for that time. Very nice car indeed
So they've done the Josh_Brolin_as_Thanos.jpeg and all is well. Drove home and to and from work yesterday and to work today, and everything is spot on.
I've had three instances now with Soper's and they have done excellent work (two recalls and had them do my wheel refurbe), so I certainly recommend them. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not the sort of person that just goes to the main dealer all the time, but they've looked after me without issue

Mine is booked into Chester branch this coming Monday after being cancelled due to not all parts Monday gone. This was a cock up as parts confirmed by parts department but was not communicated to service 😡. I will report back after it’s done.

Probably CherryM 23i Vanos recall consumed all the cam box gaskets..he had to go back a second time as they fitted it incorrectly and it was pissing oil..

CherryM?

Only hearing bad news. Anyone had this done with good news? Taking the cam cover off and changing bolts one by one is not that technical. I’d rather do it myself :headbang:

Had mine completed today. Actually only took one day as car was ready this morning.

On return home I popped the plastic cover off to check everything. They have changed the whole cam cover with new valvatronic motor gasket. Everything buttoned up correctly.

Full health report with only alignment needing attention which was done.

All in all, a good job. 👍

Had mine done last week in for 2 days and no problems.
Good job done at Llandudno Junction North Wales :D

My z4 E89 is due for vanos bolts on Dec 6th,this is the second attempt as in August the parts didn't arrive,I don't want it done to be honest as it seems that oil leaks and 'not running well' is common after the work, ive had the car since 2010 and never had a problem. It's a gut feeling that I don't think I should ignore......anyone?

I think the problem here is that if anyone has had "oil leaks" or "not running well" then they really should be taking it back to the dealer to sort and not just post on-line and do nothing about it.
Let me just explain a couple of things associated with the Vanos bolts going wrong.
At best, if they go loose, you'll have issues with running problems. They may only be minor issues, but you'll notice them.
At medium, if a bolt comes out it'll drop into the sump, which will need extracting.
At worst, if a bolt comes out and is not in the sump, it could be stuck in the engine somewhere, and this means, probably, a new block.

So, yes, it's worth doing. It may never go wrong, but considering it's free and any issue the dealer causes will be rectified free of charge there is no downside. Oh and you'll have a courtesy car during this period, I managed to have a brand new 5 series for a few days, which was nice

Thank you for the reply, makes me feel better,my car is 10yrs old and only done 14,000miles,I don't have any running issues,it's always gone back to Sitner for mot/service and I've not had problems, maybe it's a girl thing that I'm over thinking it. :D

Still waiting to hear from BMW UK, as I escalated the problem after local main agent let us down… got the car in on agreed date but never had all of the parts to complete the job, so it remains ‘pending’…

Mine was done two days ago.

Dropped her in just after eight at Group 1 Norwich and had a call at about half two saying they'd finished, having also done a wash and the usual 'healthcheck' to see what they can upsell.

The paperwork doesn't say anything about a replacement valve cover, just bolts and gaskets and it certainly looks like the original valve cover. Quite handy to have had a new gasket for free, though.

I was lent a 24 plate iX2 for the day, not what I'd buy but not a terrible car and not lacking power being the XDrive 30 M Sport model.

There should be a stamp on the cover with production dates if it’s been replaced.
