What the hell is next for Kalifornia....an earthquake?

Just had a 5.6 here tonight

Sheesh Ducks, no more fortune telling from you :? . Yal, Rosie...everyone ok up there???

I concur. Eerie timing.

Hopefully everyone is ok. Perhaps that's why I didn't sleep too well last night.

20 ducks you bad boy...i can't believe the timing on your request..i mean your observation. Well, yes it was a fun rollercoaster ride at the amusement park yesterday. Not too bad not like the 89 Loma Prieta but it was the strongest since then. I was on the usgs site so fast checking that they didn't have it posted for a bit.

California's brand of entertainment, fires then earthquakes....whats next?

Yal, any damages for you? Nothing for me, nothing even fell over. Just witnessed the stronger sex running out of the building...lol!!! Made me giggle a bit.

Well, since it appears this is a magic forum board where somebody mentions something, then it happens .... maybe it'll SNOW next! :tumbleweed:

I'm in Simi Valley, at one point during the heights of the fire, you couldn't see the sun - just an orange glow through all the ash. We were down wind from the Stevenson ranch firre, over the hill here in Simi to Magic Mountain. About 15-20 miles as the crow flies. The santa Rosa fire was closer, about 7 miles. The moorpark fire was also maybe 7 miles. Malibu fire was about 20 miles from here, but we were not downwind of that.

My wife and I drove thru malibu this past sunday .... saw the church and castle that burned down .... all the way to the ocean - the fire took 2 houses on the waterline. Pretty sad. The fires are all out up here, but the one in orange country santiago canyon is still on.

And the forecast for this weekend is low humidity and high winds and temperatures again.

Perhaps an earthquake offshore might create a sunami, then next week mother nature might stir up a hurricane after which the remnants of the storm may spawn a few tornados, which of course could be followed by some mass rioting and pilfering. Hopefully not, but it could happen. :(

Sorry, I didn't realize your question was rhictorical. Good news is that I'm not a prophet and I do not have any connexions like Ducks seems to have. :)

Maybe what he did with the hooters girls (albiet a story that only just happened yesterday that we haven't heard about) is what caused the earthquake! :poke:

all that silicone got jiggling, hit resonance and the resultant wave triggered the calaveras fault to slip? Yeah, sounds reasonable.

I'll take an earthquake over the forest fires any day. I remember spending time in Big Sur back in the 70s when there was a fire there, then working as an amateur radio operator shadow when the santa cruz mountains were burning, then back in the late 80s going through a forest fire up by the Stanislaus national forest during a camping/backpacking trip. Unless it's a controlled burn to remove brush or get the jack pines to drop their seeds, forest fires are just about the worst thing we get out here. I'll steer clear of the hurricane and tornado areas!

I'm thinking we might make a drive up to Arrowhead this weekend, if the roads are open. Anyone interested in going with us?

Sunday sounds good to me. I will check on the roads on Saturday and if they are open to the public we be gone.

I'd love to but the football team I coach made it to the championship game :D , and we play on Sunday afternoon!
If you guys go make sure you stop at Papagayo's. It's in the village (just above McDonalds). My partner at work owns it! Ask for Steve and tell him Andy sent you. They've got great taco's and a nice bar...
