I'll take an earthquake over the forest fires any day. I remember spending time in Big Sur back in the 70s when there was a fire there, then working as an amateur radio operator shadow when the santa cruz mountains were burning, then back in the late 80s going through a forest fire up by the Stanislaus national forest during a camping/backpacking trip. Unless it's a controlled burn to remove brush or get the jack pines to drop their seeds, forest fires are just about the worst thing we get out here. I'll steer clear of the hurricane and tornado areas!
