Perhaps the ultimate Highland trip....

Sort of NC500 and Grand Tour on steroids

4 days of criss crossing the Highlands, starting at Laggan and finishing in Spittal of Glenshee, taking in just about every interesting road in the Highlands..800 miles of varied roads, scenery and terrain..limited to 6 cars..reasonable quality hotels have been booked at an average of £150 per night inc breakfast.

It's definitely a sustained driving event rather than a sight seeing cruise.

The daily distances look pretty reasonable, actually. How many stops are you planning each day for fuel/breaks?

Well it’s 5-6 hours of driving each day…we normally stop for about an hour for lunch…]one or two coffee stops..pee break or two it’s a full day..

Very unlikely as I don't want any whining noises from the passenger side of the car!

I'm still gutted I had to drop out of this trip due to an earlier commitment. I hope you all have a great time. :driving:

Another great trip...probably the best ever I've done in the 11 trips I've done..

Over 7 days had a few showers on the first day to Aye, second day to Invergarry it drizzled most of the day, third day to Ullapool a few spots on departure then sunny, day 4 to Thurso sunny, Day 5 to Dornoch sunny and day 6 to Spittal of Glenshee sunny then on day 7 back home sunny all the way.

Many of the roads have now been resurfaced, so the number of pothole strewn roads and gravelly ones much reduced.

Only saw 2 roadsters, 3 sets of motorbikes and 2 caravans and very few campers.

The vistas were unspoily by loads of white camper vans and most laybys etc were empty.

Our 200 mile days were easily done in 5 hours without any effort.

One badly behaved hotel owner (where we parked in his unused car park for a few minurtes) and a couple of tetchy drivers /locals only.

Sadly my car had a caliper bolt back out so had to abandon it in Glencoe and hitch a ride..which was a great way to soak up the scenery.

Yes we were lucky with the weather..but in all my experiences its never consistently poor weather there.

So defintely either a March or October trip next time..
