Hesitation

On my 35iS there is a slight gap between me putting my foot on the accelerator and the car actually responding, i find this a little disconcerting at junctions and roundabouts, What is the cause of the delay and is there a remedy for it?

I had the same problem on my SDrive 3.0i and it is really annoying. The actions below cured it on mine. I don’t know if it will work on your car but it might be worth a shot.

1. hit start button once to turn on power (Don't start the engine)
2. then press the accelerator down to the floor for 5 sec
3. then hit start button once to turn off power
4. then remove foot from accelerator
5. then wait for 2 minutes
4. then start the engine, drive away.

Resets transmission and throttle response to default.

Just once or before every journey?

I tried this today and I think* it works. :driving:

(*Replicating the 'hesitation' isn't as easy as it might seem. When it happens, though, it is a bloody nuisance.)

Did the sequence this morning, when i got to work..so i wont know until i drive home this evening. I do a 60 mile each way commute every day with a few roundabouts and junctions..so i should know by the time im home.

What year is your car? the early 3litre twin turbo engines were known for fuel injector problems and I think what you describe was one of the early warning signs of failure, but I may be wrong, certainly the injector problems were sorted by the time the facelift model was introduced in late 2013.

That would be present through all the "modes" and even more so in the most dynamic mode due to the increased demand for for fuel. i feel my problem is more to do with the cars "learning" and as such a reset is a good place to start.

Lets hope so,

It’s a pleasure. However, I found the instructions on another forum but I can’t remember which one. It was a great relief when it worked as the delay really ruins your driving experience and sends you nuts. I was out in mine today on some good twisty roads in Derbyshire and it drove really well! :D

My car does this too. You learn to work around it in your driving but I may try this reset procedure as well, because as Hunter says, it is rather disconcerting at junctions and roundabouts where when we press the gas because of a gap in traffic we need the car to GO now, not in half a second's time...

I only did mine because I assume that like I did on the 85, it resets the throttle response, which seems to follow the pattern if you do lots of stop start driving in traffic, without much hard acceleration, it learns the way you drive.
could be rubbish I am talking, but certainly seemed to get that sharpness back when initial pull away blah blah.
