Heres an idea !

I m looking into the feasability of doing an electrical mod to the Zed. Keeping a pemanent ignition off live to the rain sensor circuit (for those with auto wipers) and linking it to the one touch close roof control via 2 relays so as not to interrupt other systems...... I would nt mind betting other cars have a system like this so who would be up for it if I have any success.... Or has it been done already

I seem to remember reading somewhere that it has been done. It would not be legal on this side of the pond as I also recall reading.... :(

pardon me for being thick... to achieve what?

one touch roof operation? if so there is a reinhold module that does that...

:?

If it starts raining - the roof comes up?
Exactly but I suspect this happening unattended might not be legal and I am nearly 100% sure it's not legal in the US.

Hope you never have to use the wash function on the windscreen either ...

Ah- fly on the windscreen, lets use the washer - oops, roof closed.

pemanent ignition off live

Would such a supply cut out when the ignitoin was turned? ie would not then opperate if you were driving along etc? The same interlock that means the car has to be stopped to opperate the roof would also stop the roof opperating at 70mph if the logic was set up correctly, theory sounds good to me.

Practically if I'm ever far enough away from the car to not be able to close the roof myself (or do it with the key if you'd got the reinhold) the seats and dash would be so covered in Seagull crap I'd be glad of the rain to wash it off!!!!

When I press the roof close button it doesn't work unless I'm <5mph anyway, so surely this would work quite well !

Love the idea, how easy is it to get to the sensor, considering there must be some circuitry involved in the tolerance levels..

Thank f""k someones taking me seriously !

Is it possible though.. might need to put some kind of ammeter on the rain sensor and play with it.

Windscreen man i had out for my other car tells me they are just motion sensors / PIR's.. not water sensors. Makes sense.. hadnt thought of that..

Sorry Mik, I didn't mean to give that impression. I was really curious and don't know much about the reinhold module. I thought the reinhold allowed the top top be adjusted at speed. I hope you find resolution to your question.
