It was seized and it has started to round so I stopped. I have decided to drill it out in the morningJakg said:Why can't you get it out? Is it seized or have you rounded it?
I assume the grub screw is to just hold the disc in placebigwinn said:I've had that once
I got advice to drill a hole in the outer edge of the grub screw, using a small drill to a larger one, to then get a tap into the hole and whack it round with a hammer
yeah that’s the oneLynchy said:I assume the grub screw is to just hold the disc in placebigwinn said:I've had that once

A good soak overnight in penetrating oil and tackle it with an impact driver.
If this fails, just drill the C/sink head off the holding screw - Once its off, the disc comes away leaving a stub of the screw thread big enough for a set of Mole Grips.
The holding grub screw is usually soft so you shouldn't have any problem and the drill normally centres quite accurately.
Does it matter if the disc doesn’t have a screw as the 5 bolts will hold it in placebigwinn said:yeah that’s the oneLynchy said:I assume the grub screw is to just hold the disc in placebigwinn said:I've had that once

That’s good, I will try to get it out though :wink:pvr said:It is only there so that the disc does not fall off when the wheel is off.
If you've started to round it, it's probably a little late unfortunately.Lynchy said:It was seized and it has started to round so I stopped. I have decided to drill it out in the morningJakg said:Why can't you get it out? Is it seized or have you rounded it?
I discovered one that had been sheared and left in the past.Lynchy said:That’s good, I will try to get it out though :wink:pvr said:It is only there so that the disc does not fall off when the wheel is off.
A top tip is to tighten it to break the thread, then loosen.Jakg said:If you've started to round it, it's probably a little late unfortunately.Lynchy said:It was seized and it has started to round so I stopped. If it's rounded too far, you can use a chisel to tap it round.
I drilled it out Steve, all the others came out ok so I now have new discs and pads all roundsrhutch said:Did you get it out Ed?
Unfortunately not but I’ll try and drill it out another day as my rear discs came with spare boltsronk said:Was there a stub remaining to your mole grips on?
