Help Removing Discs

So I’m replacing discs and pads on my car and for the life of me I can’t get the grub screw out that holds the brake disc in place. Any help would be appreciated

I've had that once

I got advice to drill a hole in the outer edge of the grub screw, using a small drill to a larger one, to then get a tap into the hole and whack it round with a hammer

Why can't you get it out? Is it seized or have you rounded it?
It was seized and it has started to round so I stopped. I have decided to drill it out in the morning

I assume the grub screw is to just hold the disc in place

yeah that’s the one

Ive been there a few times!

A good soak overnight in penetrating oil and tackle it with an impact driver.

If this fails, just drill the C/sink head off the holding screw - Once its off, the disc comes away leaving a stub of the screw thread big enough for a set of Mole Grips.

The holding grub screw is usually soft so you shouldn't have any problem and the drill normally centres quite accurately.

Does it matter if the disc doesn’t have a screw as the 5 bolts will hold it in place

If you've started to round it, it's probably a little late unfortunately.
If it's rounded too far, you can use a chisel to tap it round.

It is only there so that the disc does not fall off when the wheel is off.
That’s good, I will try to get it out though
I discovered one that had been sheared and left in the past.
I soon got fed up with the disc moving slightly out of line when I put the wheel on, so the bolts wouldn't go in!

A top tip is to tighten it to break the thread, then loosen.

With any tricky looking bolts I always tighten first because if I round it, I might still be able to remove.
