Hellrot Coupe Respray Progress

Thanks for sharing OP. Gives a lot of us something interesting to look at (at a time when there's little else going on).

With regards the price vs the quality of the job, I think you'll get what you've paid for. It's kind of an 80/20 thing where you'll get 80% of the result for 20% of the price. Not quite those numbers, but you get what I'm saying!

So, carry on I say, be prepared that it won't be 100% but enjoy it looking much better than it did. Look forward to all the updates, keep them coming

Thanks for your message, I 100% agree with you on that to be fair, ideal world the shell would be fully stripped and brought back to bare metal but the age of these cars and the value just doesn't justify a job like that for me, everything aside though I'm looking forward to seeing it finished and will definitely be a big improvement on what I had

I would have expected a higher cost than that as well, but as you say it isn't a complete strip out.

I hope you'll be pleased with the end result, and I'm sure we'd all like to see some "after" photos.

Love the old Fiesta MK1 in your last photo, I learnt to drive in one of those and my mum had an XR2 version in black, bloody loved that car.
Coupe's looking good

Looking good, where abouts is the body shop doing the job? maybe be interested in getting a quote of them some time, once I’ve seen the end results from yours   as I’m at the same point you were where the car has too many little stone chips dents etc and mine is a roadster so even less to prep!

The place is in Carronshore, Falkirk, the owner seems really geniune and it was a friend of mines who was raving about him  I'd say go for it, sooner you do it the longer you get to enjoy it :D

You should get them to fill the plate holes in the bumper before they spray it.
Think it's too late now the primers on :( it's stuck on pressed plates i have anyways so it will all be covered

Is that a cheeky M bumper that’s going on the rear?
You spotted it  My dad makes custom stainless exhaust systems so hopefully going to have a quad exhaust fitted shortly after the lockdown is lifted

I spotted it on the wall in your first photos, then confirmed in the later ones !

What a decent plan, and something to look forward to !

With regard to the mention about the bonnet being sprayed in situ ... that wouldn’t worry me too much. If it was metallic, there’s technique and positioning that’s vital to get the metallic flakes orientated / sprayed evenly; and I reckon that could be compromised with the bonnet being so difficult to lean over with the size. On a flat colour, that’s of course not so much of an issue and the cost just needs to be even.

Look forward to seeing how you get on!

Thanks mate, it's been the plan for quite a while now, the damaged paintwork just gave me the push I needed to buy the bumper and get it started
And thats quite interesting with the bonnet on/ off debate with regards to metallic paint, i hadn't really considered that to be honest. Thanks for that, some comments can end up ringing alarm bells for problems you never knew existed lol, it's a difficult thing to put your beloved car into the hands of a business especially with something that can make or break the looks.
I'll keep posting any updates I receive and of course the finished article :D

Now that is going to look absolutely amazing :D . Great that they keep you updated with pics, gives us all something to follow  .

Thanks mate the shine is looking unreal :D And they've been really good with keeping me updated, phoned me earlier to say tomorrow they'll be reassembling then flatting and finishing the topcoat. Said there's about twice as much paint on it than from factory.
So I'm hoping for a good finish on this one
