Hi all,

I've recently joined the Z4 ranks and now understand all the fuss - its a great car to drive

Been looking out for a 3.0 since having a drive in my friends and finally found one last week 53, 3.0, auto with 19,000 and full BMW history

Not done much modding to it yet, just had a denon iphone cable installed but really keen to replace my 17" with the #107 ellipsoid alloys (anyone know somewhere i can pick these up?)

Problems - you may laugh but ive had a couple in the first weeks ownership - 1. aftertaking it to the local jetwash the DCS, ABS and TPC lights came on, took it down to the local stealers and got stung for £200 with the outcome being water had leaked into the control unit, thankfully it dried off and been ok since 2. after moving the passenger seat back to fit a few bags of beer (for the footy, and what a waste!) the airbag light came on, but moving the seat forward sorted that.

So a bit of a shakey start  but overall very happy and looking forward to a long dry summer

Richard

Find yourself a local independent BMW garage for next time, no point in going to a dealer on a car outside of warranty, unless your really desparate to have the stamps. Re the ellipsoids they crop up occasionally on here or eBay, don't seem to change hands as much as the 108's. I'll be hanging onto mine

Hi and Welcome to the forum, nice looking Zed .If you are up for it there is a big meet at Kendal this W/end so would be a good chance to show off your Zed and meetup with a lot off the Guys & Gals .

x3 for Kendal - Do I spy some wood on the dash - never seen one like that in the flesh.
19k miles on an 03 motor - Looks like you found someone else's treasured pet :)

Welcome to the forum. Hope you find the wheels you are looking for, it is indeed a fine automobile good find well done

Hi Ranski and welcome. Just up the road from you in Shenstone.

2003 Sterling grey 3.0i auto with hardtop is a close cousing of mine - good choice.

Hi and welcome  Nice car, I've just changed my 17s to Ellipsoids, it makes a big difference! :D

Hi all, thanks for the welcome, I can't do the Kendal trip this time around but defo up for other meets

Yes i picked it up from down st albans, from what i gathered it was a second (maybe third car) that was only used in the summer periods. I was 50/50 with the auto box but its the best ive driven. The only thing im still pondering over is where to permanently house the hardtop, although im considering buying the bag for it and hanging it from the ceiling.

Quick question - are any of you experiencing tinny/clanky doors when you shut them? I've found a few sound dampening solutions on the web, but it looks like the sort of fix that offers more issues then an overall solution. Anyone had a crack at this?

Richard

It's an easy job to do and I did it to mine while I had the door cards off for another project. Use the heavy bitumin with foil type deadener on the inside of the entire door skin. Way better but still not 'right'

Hmm maybe a job for me then, I've got to get the door apart to change the outside handle bowden cable. Is eBay the easiest place for the material?

Yes good taste on the sterling gray  I didn't like the hardtops to begin with but like them now i have one. Storage is a pain, i'm looking at a pulley system to bolt to my garage roof.

Hi cj10jeeper,

Do you use a main dealer (Sytner/Sutton?) or use an independent? If so which one? as i might give them a go for its next brake fluid change

If you don't mind a bit of a drive go see Peter at auto tech in telford, quite a few owners here have been to see him and all give him  he is local to me and I'll be going to him, my insp 2 is due in 3k miles plus I need a few other little things done.

I only use Sytner for parts and the odd item such as an airbag reset and bushes on an X5, that are outside of the capability of normal garages.

I use AME in Shenstone simply because I know the owner well, get good rates and trust him entirely with the things he does. He does the MOT's and whatever part of a service I want then stamps up the book 'to manufacturer standard'.
I never recommend places as such because there is an implied responsibility in so doing
