Cheers all, ZHP is on the list! (Unless anyone has one to sell - I'll check the other pages too)

But first I appear to have another issue ... Car (appears) to be running/driving fine, I stopped at a friends house (did nto turn off engine) 20mins later get back in and i'm greeted with this:

warning%20light_zpsnqmrvfuy.jpg

More than Likley wheel speed sensor. If it was handbrake traction and abs then it'll more than Likley be the pump. Think you need to invest in a c101 scanner for about £30 then you can determine the issue

Thanks Jamie, I have something similar on order: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07CVVZ4YW/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_tdw7CbA8W59PB

I have never used a OBD2 scanner before. Assuming I can get it to work and it gives me an error code. Is there a list of "code" descriptions of issues somewhere?

A

I didn't find a list, but this might help once you've got the code:- http://bmwfault.codes/

Don’t know about the c101 but the C301 tells you the fault. I had the same and it was an ABS SENSOR

Welcome to the forum and Z4 ownership. I bought my ZHP from Sytner in Coventry through EBay. Great service from them and a good price all safely delivered to NZ.
Lovely looking car that I am sure will look better in your ownership.

To be fair the abs cable was relatively cheap and easy to fit

Hi & welcome. Are you sure you have run diagnostics & not just plugged it in ( sorry not trying to patronise) just checking. :D

Hey thank you, haha, yeah I'm pretty sure (followed all instructions) and guides online I can find. (very sure the diagnostic was run, it just came back with 0 codes) Also, updated the unit - hoping this might have done the trick.
So these NEXPEAK NX301 do not work :|

What is the best "Carly" or scanner? I assume this will read codes (and much more)

Also, the exhaust tip is about 25% too big. I have no idea why someone has reviewed this and said "Fitted this to a BMW Z4 2 litre exhaust and extremely pleased with the outcome" :?

So! as per Kevoz4 & patriot66 recomendation - On order:

At least it’s shiny 😂😂😂 .I have a Carly that seems to do most things, only problem is you have to renew the licence every year at 50 odd quid 😬 where are you based if close don’t mind plugging it in for you & checking before you buy one. There is a good guy in Bolton sorted my abs problem out I had to fit a pump that needed coding to the car only charged me £60 (fitted pump myself)

So this weekend the weather wasn't good so didn't wash her,
When it was great I was on the sauce :drinking:
When it was okay I was ...

That being said plenty of time on :ebay:

Got a new knob delivered today  whey-hey

.... and an exhaust tip (this one looks much much better) Something to be said for OEM :D

So, I have a few months before MOT and need a few things doing...

  • Replace read 3/4 panel (after some T*** hit it and ran)
  • Replace roof motor and relocate (Now summer is here, it stopped working :headbang: )
  • Alloy wheel refurb (Black Gloss MV3)
  • Replace brake lines and install HEL braided cables
  • Suspension overhaul - Eibach Pro-Kit Spring Set and Bilstein B4s/B6 ... still unsure ...
  • New ARB and Wishbone Bush, and drop links
  • Coolant change / try to get my heaters to work correctly
  • Remove condensation and polish headlight
  • Final stage polish and roof seal

Or maybe just put 2k towards a new z4 :-?

Roof removed and motor replaced from new one from RoofMotors.co.uk

Panel replaced today...
I am sure BMW started with that panel then attached the rest if the car around it. What a PITA!!!! :headbang:

So it took me 2hours wondering why the motor would only close, and refuse to go back down.

Eventually, I remembered about the little parcel shelf clip needed to be engaged!

ARB bushes (PowerFlex Purples) and Drop Links (Lemforder) replaced this weekend. (need "thin" 18MM spanner to finish this job.
Although, still waiting for Eibach Pro Kit to arrive from AutoDoc/Germany. Hopefully get the Bilsteins and Eibachs sorted this weekend coming.
