Hello all,
Just picked up my Z4 on Tuesday. It is a 55 reg 3.0i SE, Silver with black interior. It is a very standard car, running on 17" wheels. Enjoying it very much so far. In the past I've had a Subaru WRX, several Mazda MX5s and an Audi TT. The Z4 seems to embody the best of these cars. The performance of the Subaru, the agility of the Mazda and the luxurious interior of the Audi.

Only fault I have found so far is the front fog lamps have a lot of condensation inside. It seems simple to remove the lamps to dry them out, or I could use the last few months of my warranty to have them sorted by the stealer. btw I called the local dealer to enquire about extending the warranty. But when they said it was £600 for the next 12 months, plus an excess of £100 per claim I think I'll just wing it and hope the car is reliable. Or are Zeds so unreliable that this is a good deal? :o

I live near Stirling so hopefully I'll meet up with some of the Scottish members sometime.

David

p.s. Pics to follow if it ever stops raining

Congrats and welcome!

As far as the fog lights I would use the warranty heck I would use the warranty for any litle thing i could find.

As far as extending the warranty it is always a gamble either way. I don't think anyone on here has had a problem that has cost enough to wish they had someone else pay for it. It seems like £100 per claim is a bit high if you want to buy warranty I would shop around.

Of course I think most have traded in the '03/'04's for '06/'07/08's so most of use still have a little warranty left.

Welcome

I echo the comments re the lights. Get them exchanged under warranty. Why dry them out and it is a lot of work to remove them - let the dealer fix it.

Extended warranties. I'm not a great fan given the reliability of the car and the relative costs. OK if the gearbox falls out you would win, but you need a £700 bill just to cover your investment. Too much for me.

Welcome to the forum :D

Lights - warranty while you have it!

I havent extended my warranty either... I couldn't bring myself to pay those prices at the end of the day. You would be better setting aside the money you would spend on the warranty in order to pay for problems later on if req. Just my Opinion :D

Thanks for the welcomes and the advice. I will skip the extended warranty, but I'll definately make use of the remaining warranty to sort the lights.

:D

Welcome, from a very wet and miserable Northamptonshire. I've still been to the Norfolk coast and back today just for the hell of it ( about 250 miles all in), AND got the roof down for an hour.WooooHoooo!!

Gat as much stuff done under the warranty as you can. The dealers get the costs back from BMW, it's what you pay the extra for a new car for, don't waste it.

I'd definately make use of every day you have the warranty for. Don't accept little things wrong with the car. You have spent a lot of money and deserve everything to be right. As soon as the warranty runs out you will be responsible, and sod's law says something will go wrong soon aftr it runs out, so do what you have to.

We have had a little break in the weather down here and I have enjoyed some time with the roof down over the last week or so. It's not particularly warm, but then as long as it is dry who cares?

I'll have the roof down every chance I get now seeing as the summer was soooooooooo bad
