Agree on the Bridgestone comment. Mine was similar once they were well worn
I replaced mine with Dunlop/Pirelli (albeit still run flats) problem solved

This is what I did on my E86. Difference was night and day.

Only issue was the £700 bill.

Remove the runflats and replace with a premium set of non runflats, totally transforms the ride and
handling characteristics.
Excuse my ignorance but when you don't carry a spare how do you deal with punctures?

A couple of tins of foam and a compressor is the answer for most I believe
I think you can also get a BMW spare wheel kit but obviously lose most of your boot space

Thanks Kermit. The driver door is now unlocking remotely however the only way to open the passenger side is from the inside.
Sounds like the door actuator for the passenger door is knackered.
Just replaced one in our Mini.

It's possible to programme the car so only the drivers door unlocks on first press of the unlock button, try double pressing it & see if the passenger door unlocks?
Regards
Thanks for the suggestion. Didn't work. Also the drivers side only works on and off. Fob disables the alarm, then have to use the key to unlock the driver door most times.

Heard that foam ruins the tyre once used so puncture in non run flats equals new tyre?

I've heard that as well, but I think it depends which type of foam/gel you get
I bought some for my wife's car the other week and it had some statement on it about being safe and allowing tyre to be repaired.

Thanks will have to look into that when the boots need replacing.

No doubt someone on the forum will come up with the definitive answer

My money's on Mr Wilks :)

Falkens? go for Vred vortis if you end up keeping the car, 20,000 miles on my set and still tons of miles to go,

Didn't like my first Zed because of the steering and steering wheel movement - took me three test drives and a bit of resolution to go for it BUT - transforming when you move to decent non runflat rubber SO if you like the Zed you have (colour spec etc) then stick with it and you'll sort it out. Shouldn't stop you going back to the seller and saying it's not as described though - you might get some issues sorted by them? Finally it is a bit of a characteristic that the steering wheel is moving in your hands - you'll get to love it and feel involved

Tyres definately have a big effect. I have 2 zeds at the moment. The 2nd one felt terrible compared to the first. Thought I had bought a duffer. Moved the fronts to the back and vice versa. Problem solved. It was like a different car.
Don't be to hastey to change door actuaters. It will most likely be your GM 5. It has 2 relays in it which control the locking functions etc, also the little drop on the window when you open the door etc. Search GM5 on here and you will find out all about it. If your dead handy with a soldering iron you can do it yourself. Or send it away for repair if not.

It would be worth having a four wheel alignment done too - cheaper than new tyres, but definitely after fitting new tyres if you go that route. I'd put money on the car never having had it done, and the geometry on these cars is very just because that's the way it is set up. 6 to 10 years of kerbs and potholes will take its toll on the alignment...

Make sure it's a proper Hunter alignment place - Google 'alignmycar', which is a site that will point you at places local to you that do Hunter alignment.

Foam doesnt ruin tyre ! it`s water based & can be washed out. Tyre places don`t like doing it as it takes time.

what are the standard tyre sizes on there with the standard wheels?
225/50r16 I think!

are those standard z4 seriously 16 inch wheels?! shocked. defo need at least 18 inch.

hope you get the issue sorted mate.
I have 18 inch wheels but I believe that 16 was the original before 'options'

Thanks for all the kind advice. It really is a very friendly forum.
Should hear from the dealer about the central locking issue tomorrow. Will take it from there.
Whether I keep this one or change for another Z - I will definitely be getting rid of the run flats!

Ok. One service, pair of front arm bushes and a new set of non runflat tyres later, the car is running like a dream although I think I will get the wheels aligned as well.
Dealer is rectifying the central locking issue.
Now to save up for an alloy refurb!

Thanks to all for the advice. One happy z4 ownrt now.
