heel and toe

any here tried tto alter the throttle pedal hight to enable easier heel and toeing ? thuoght about buying another oem pedal and fixing on top of the existing one ,it should then still look original but give a more level hight across the pedals. i just find that whilst trying to heel and toe , whilst trying to roll my foot to blip, i tend to overbrake. thoughts anyone :driving:

What is the big advantage to heel and toe? I know what it is, but I don't see the big point of doing (besides the fact it creates less stress on the gearbox with big downshifts).

Whats the point of a manual gearbox? I heal and toe a fair bit just because I like to. :driving: Left foot break also, when condition are suitable. Just adds to the fun of driving the car for me. I'm no racer, I just enjoy the satisfaction of getting it right. Plus found that you can lock the rears up, even with the traction control on, if you change down whist braking hard and don't heel and toe.

I have been thinking the same. I am sure on a track it's fine and easy as you would probably be braking later and harder. So some of those pedals will probably work a treat especially with some packing to get the correct height. And they match the stuff I have been making or the inside of mine. Saves me making some like I had planed thanks exdos

When you lift off the accelerator to brake, the throttle bodies close almost completely and if you then let the clutch out in a lower gear when the revs have dropped too much, the drive to the wheels will be going too slow, so you can get the rear wheels suddenly slowing the car down by strong engine braking, which can severely unbalance the car, especially in the wet. Try it! :P

One shoe with an additional sole glued underneath?

I've fitted a set of AC Schnitzer pedals off ebay this afternoon, which raise the height of the accelerator relative to the brake pedal; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-ACS-A...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f1e0de088 They're excellent quality and cost me £27 including postage.

I fitted some of these to my Z3MC years ago and they work a treat. Highly recommended.

They're a bit tricky to fit and took me an hour in total.

Thanks to Machine Monkey I just ordered a set

Inkey that's an interesting option ha ha.........

thanks inkeys , tried that already but then i have to walk with one foot on the pavement, ...

exedos , they are a good buy, but if i fit the whole set then surely it will be no different will it, as i just need t raise the throttle :? btw , good explanation of what is happening when you dont rev match.

busy g.exactly, it just feels good when it goes right , hey ? :driving:

When you fit the alloy pedal on the accelerator, you raise the height relative to the brake and clutch pedals, BUT you remove the OEM plastic covers off the brake and clutch pedals to fit the alloy pedals on those, so there's no increase in height of those two pedals.

They're awkward to fit, so if you get some let me know, and I'll give you a few tips because they come without instructions. I found it so much easier fitting these today than I did the last time.

I see, said the blind man! perfect plan, thanks exdos, can i get them from a uk supplier as i dont have a paypal account required for the seller in the usa, thanks for the tip re levelling , will get some sourced.

Feel the exact same way! Mostly do it for fun! Plus it sounds loooovely with loud exhausts.

I dont tend to heal and toe on public roads- accurate throttle blipping is usually enough for me but when i have heal and toed on public roads i also find i'm over braking and very unsmooth (and try doing it with the sport button on is even worse.) It does work well in the ///M however on track- heal and toeing down from 4th/5th down through the gears to 2nd is an awesome feeling when you get it right.

Here are a couple of photos of the AC Schnitzer pedals fitted. They might not be to everyone's taste, but I don't mind them. I know: I need to get the hoover in there.

This one shows the relative levels of the pedals to each other.

yes exactly, the overbraking i think is one , because the throttle pedal is so much lower than the brake and two, that the first inch or so travel of the brake pedal gives violent braking, would prefer a bit more progressive feel, i think it would help with smoother driving, the sport button as u say is worse still , but i must confess to on a couple of occasions had pretty bad kangarooing with sport off, if u tend to come off throttle and go back on, dont know why , but frustrating. :x

I like I like a lot they do match what I have been making for my car :) I didn't order them today I will very soon I think. And that kangarooing could be you CDV clutch delay valve. Lots have removed them me included I think the car is much more drivable now.

Tunnel + RPI + heel-toe =

OK it was only 1 gear downshift but still... The pops towards the end is when i just barely tap the throttle pedal. Only does that in Sport mode.
