Heated seat switch

Bit of a 1st world problem tbh.
The driver's side heated seat switch bottom green light doesn't work.
So when you select the lowest setting of heat you have no idea if it is actually on or not...............apart from the obvious toasting sensation in the nether regions!
I'm assuming this is simply a bulb/LED failure.
Is it simplest to change the whole switch?
Are they available?
How easy is to to swap it over? If it's a major operation we'll live with it.

I got a whole switch panel from EBay for my E85 when I had it which had the heated seat switches. Changing the switch should be quite straightforward. You could also try one of the breakers like Quarry Motors.

Thanks.
Only been in the E85 world for 48 hours so got some basic questions.
How does that panel come out please?

Those switches were changed so i think you’ll want replacement switches from an lci car. The detail legends wore off the earlier versions and they had a different finish from memory

Cheers Rob, it's a 53 plate? Isn't that pre-lci? Or are you saying I'd only be able to get newer ones.

I think you can remove it with one of those tools used to remove door panels. I got mine when I changed to MSport heated seats and had a local auto electrician do the fitting. I am sure that there will be someone on the Forum who will be able to tell you exactly how to do it. I still have my original panel from my 2005 E85 but it doesn’t have the heated seat switches on it unfortunately. I think I paid about £30 for the panel I bought from EBay with the heated seat switches on it.

Going slightly off topic is your wife going to join the forum?
If so a possible username could be; 'enuff of' ...... but how could she after such a gesture.

Some years ago I bought my girlfriend (now the current Mrs M) her first BMW and could not get her insured on the thing, or my two other cars at the time so it just sat there until she aged a bit, girlfriend/wife aged too, oh well.

Yup it's for Val's new E85 Rob.
AsI said, it's not an earth stopping issue, but I do like to tinker a bit and this looked like an easy starter.
I'll keep my eyes open in slow time and if/when I pick up the switch I can then suss out how to fit it.

Val has her hands full keeping up with the Dachshund Owners forums it seems :?

I think I shall keep this as my personal escape route from the everyday dross. :D
