Heart vs head 2.8 vs 2.0

Hi guys, just wanted to give an update.

Got my 2.8 pre-reg Zed at the weekend. Car has the 19's and is black with beige seats, killer combo to look after I know, but it looks great and have already booked a detailer to give the paint work ceramic paint protection and also to do a good clean and protect of the interior. Option inc, comfort package, stubby aerial, ipod cable and semi integrated sat nav, which I am very impressed by (will add pictures soon).

Loving the engine, but haven't had much time to give it a proper drive yet. Only few things i've noticed are that my lower back is giving me some issues, no lumbar support, thinking I just need to find the right seating position.

Now i'm considering whether to get GAP insurance and tyre insurance, GAP I think is no brainer for cost and peace of mind it provides no matter how small probability of a write off. But tyres am not too sure, a friend had 19's on his Scirocco and drives down the same main roads I do and picked up 2 impact fractures in tyres in first year. So I'm really considering it, even though price seems quite high.

Also order some new cleaning products so looking forward to giving the car some TLC. Thanks guys for all your help during purchase, will put pics up asap.

Cheers, Will

IMHO, If you're likely to travel on any crap roads, I'd take the tyre insurance, especially if it covers the wheels too. Neither are cheap to replace on 19's.

You are in the same boat as me as I have got 19" wheels and have driven through some potholes the last few days that made me think that the front wheels where going to be dragged off. I have got out of the car to inspect with the expectation that the wheel would be damaged but up to press they appear ok.I have took the BMW tyre and wheel insurance though

Preferably I would want to take out the tyre insurance with BMW like you Ric, but even the dealer told me to not get it right now, as the t&c's are too strict and they are updating the policy soon. Anyone got any feedback of tyre insurance from independent companies like ala or gap2cover etc? Know they are cheaper but bit worried about how much faff they put you threw to claim, where as I'm guessing with BMW you just go in and they swap them out, no hassle.

What I would say here is that there is usually a very short period from purchase where you can take out this insurance, check that.

Don't bank on that either. Check into the detail no matter where you get insurance from.

I had two punctures on my previousI 1 series at the same time. Took it into the dealer and both got changed no questions asked just received two cheques from the insurance company

Hi guys, sorry it's taken me so long but finally have some pictures to show off the Zed. Had the car detailed by Finer details in Manchester, he did a great job, applied ceramic protection, leather protection and painted my brake calipers, check out the results below, not even been photoshopped ;)

By the way, I took the car out with the top down for the first time the other day going down some country lanes, had a giant grin across my face. What a feeling!
