Heart vs head 2.8 vs 2.0

Strangely enough I have the same problem.2.0 or 2.8. I drove a 2.0 with a little spec for a weekend and a 2.8 with almost no spec for two days this week. Personally for me, I don't think the extra bhp is worth the £4500. I'm not buying the car to race it,just cruise in it. I've had a youthful of penalty points
I've got to finalise my spec soon and am considering the M Sport suspension deletion. So that's another question, anyone done that and thoughts?

The 20i would be enough for me these days. Tonybz, the M suspension delete I always think looks a bit strange, as the car sits higher. No idea whether the comfort is worth it. Maybe a 20i with adaptive suspension is the way forward.

Not being a boy racer the 2.0 suits me fine, a few more toys is nicer to have when the 2.0 is hardly a snail for everyday use.

Tim.

I had to choose between a 2 and 28 , I think it depends on what your coming from and your driving style, I found the 2 a little under powered but am really happy with the 28, not sure if there's much difference between the auto and manual or which one your looking atbut the auto is definatley fun.

I just find a more available "oomph" makes for a more relaxing drive. I quite often get overtaken by the gti boy racers but who cares?
Its just nice to know that when you do give it a squirt it goes like a scalded cat!

Basically the car is working well within its cababilities and I reckon the secret ingredient is torque!

Power for me! Have you considered a 23i? Or is that the 2.0l you're referring to?

I'd hold out a bit longer and get exactly what you want!

That's what I thought to be honest. The rides not to bad anyway with the msport suspension. Now time to fix the spec. :)

I had a fixed budget from work and could either get a 20i with all the toys or a 28i with no toys. In the end I put in my own money on top to get a 28i with toys :D . I just thought that I did not want to be "disappointed" with my new car from day 1 so hang the expense (fortunately there was a little bit of money put aside).

I'd say if it's an everyday driver, then go for the toys and luxuries... and you'll save a bit of money on fuel too.

If it's a weekend sports car then it's a no brainer :driving:

The 20i and the 28i are rated (strangely) the same on fuel consumption. I can only compare the 28i with my previous 23i, it's definitely better on fuel and the way things are going we are all gonna need a bit of that.

When you want to overtake you will want power.
When you cant find your way you want sat nav.

Both situations will arise - and you will regret either one you have not got!

Go to the dealer, negotiate hard and get the quicker car with the toys. Life's too short to compromise!

But you can't buy the extra power for £100 from halfords, wheras a sat nav you can. If op doesn't already have one.

Then when you suddenly need the sat nav you find its in the drawer at home! :D
( from bitter experience :x )

Sat Nav is only one part on the toy list tho!

I chose an extra 30bhp over nav & xenons.

I would be the complete opposite with regards to any car putting out over 150/ton theres no point to the extra power in my opinion.

Everyone has their own opinions..

Thats probably the reason they give us so many options and taking the opportunity to get us to pay more!

I used a Tom Tom today for the second time since I bought the car but have enjoyed the sound and power of the engine for every single one of the 1500 miles I've done so far. I even turn the radio down when the roofs down to here more of the motor.
