Heart op AT LAST...!!!!

Hey all,

I've only just logged on as true to form I've had an AF attack this afternoon and feel like crap, it's still simmering and bed is the only place to be right now.

I'm bowled over by the posts, thank you all so much, I really really appreciate the time you take to post etc, I'd buy you all a pint if possible... What a great bunch!!

Cheers guys...

9 months! Blimey, all those mis-diagnoseseses, it's enough to give you a heart attack, isn't it?

Best wishes for Wednesday, hope you make a full and swift recovery.
Cheers, Dave

No driving for a week afterwards and remember the mobile phone charger for the night in hospital along with a few magazines!

Remember to use a sharp razor to shave the "bits" they told you to do

From experience here, don't worry - as the cardio said to me a couple of weeks ago - "for you it's a big deal - but not for us we do this every day"

( you have my pm)

Well after 9 yrears of mis-diagnosis and 3 postponements this year it looks very much like the first cardiac ablation op is going ahead this Wednesday, it'll be the 2nd bout of surgery in 6 months after a bowel op in summer, and it can't come soon enough, the atrial fibrillation I get is severe and has a huge impact on day to day life which is getting steadily worse, it's stoped me going to any Z4 meets for e.g., or from having a holiday, and along with bowel problems has prevented a steady work life this year, hence I'm fairly desparate for it. The first op won't cure the problem and I'll need more but at least it's getting underway. It's a bit daunting but ultimately exciting to think that by this time next year I could be cured!! Fibrillation is not life threatening but left untreated causes heart disease and puts you at very high stroke risk, so it needs dealing with.

However on the flip side of this excitement is a knowledge of a least one forum member whose loved one is still fighting so I wish anyone with something themselves, or family and friends with an illness, all the very heartfelt best, I sincerely hope a good outcome for all.

Hey not looking for any sympathy votes here, just sharing an experience which I've asked about on here before diagnosis, so an update to any interested parties as much as anything.

Cheers for reading and good health, keep things in perspective folks. :)

Good luck, and hope it all goes well,John

Sorry John, don't get on here as much as I used to and only just seen this.

Hope all went OK, take it easy!

Time for an update I think ...

Yes, its a long agonizing wait.... :(

How are you doing ?

Hey Bumpy,

Are you snowed in over there?

Ah well not too good TBH, on oxygen from a collapsed lung from the heart op, looks like it's not going to right itself anytime soon, the diaphram nerve is paralysed.

I'm considering falling over in an outrageous theatrical stylee and feigning a heart attack outside Sainsbury's so they give me a belt with those chest pads, see if that kick starts the bugger into life again....

Cheers for the post.
