Heads up Alpine White ///MC

you can tell its been returned back to standard.... look at the exhaust fitment ;-) well off.... also their are some engine bay pieces missing, is it me or is one of the strut top nuts missing on the Drivers side......... These z4ms are piss easy to buy now @ their low price points but to find a genuine, straight, properly serviced vehicle is rare imo..... im pretty proud of mine as much modified as it is, their isn't so much as a washer out of place and its serviced yearly/meticulously...... insp 2 every time not to mention all the other bits like coolant flushes/diff/gearbox oil changes... Really warn people to be very careful when purchasing a z4m..... especially this influx of super cheap ///Ms coming out....... Their really is such a thing as "too good to be true".

white however looks awesome and the white coupe is pretty much perfect.
Why do you change the oil's which don't required changing in the first place?

You have got me asking more questions now. Mine is as you put it a rare alpine white mcoupe unmodified and with complete service .Now I have had for just over 1 year but only done 2 k . Do I really have to pay for service ins2? Just so the book shows annually ?

Not inspections as they are mileage based.

I just did an intermediate Oil on the M as inspection was not due, will do that in May or so.

well partly due to the extra heat my car produces..... heat breaks down fluids, so i change them yearly......you simply would not believe the service schedule that i throw at this car BUT.... its more stressed than normal s54's so it needs the extra maintenance and i enjoy looking after it.... No point spending all that money making 500+hp then skimping on the service and maintenance of the thing.....

Pretty sure that used to belong to a member on here who ended up with TWO Z4MCs after being unable to pass up this white one that was offered to them: it's the colour/interior/mileage combo that I remember. I was in discussion with the member regarding buying their seats (they were considering Recaros at the time).

Damned if I can remember their username though.
"SEWELLZM" ? http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=31381

Missing that oil change wont of done any long term harm.
No, but it may stop BMW warranty paying out if the engine/vanos was to go bang

No different than running around on baldy tyres - you'll be fine until you cause a crash or are stopped by the BIB.

There's always a what if in life. Now I wouldn't chance running around with bald tyres, but I would take my chances on that missing oil change. I've seen a fair few cars which due to doing low annual miles have missed an oil service on here, as the owner has just followed what the service indicator says, and we're yet to see any yet with major engine problems due to this. As far as the warrenty goes most cars I've owned have never had warrenties. So wouldn't be an issue for me. Though this is all just talk anyway as I wont be buying it due to it being out of my price range, despite the bargining tool of the missed oil change.

That's who I had in mind

Looks like the same car - both have that small rear lip spoiler. Could be coincidence but I think we have a winner...

The seats and the spoiler are the give away. Someone clearly bought it, stripped it of mods and fitted OEM bits making a big wodge of cash in the process... I would have loved it as it was sold by SEWELLZM, but with the knowledge that the conversion back to OEM may have been a bit sloppy (witness the tail pipes that Beedub mentioned), I think I would steer clear

white has to be up there as the best colour for a Z4MC!

With regard to the servicing, i've spoken to BMW a couple of times about this and they always say in line with what the car is telling you! I'll only do 3-4k a year in mine so could easily go 2 years between services which BMW tell me is fine.

I also spoke specifically to the service anager when i brough mine in December as it had done only 8k in 4 years with 2 services. He had no problems about this and the car has a full warranty on it?

Is there a statement in writing that it should see a garage every year?

No your correct serving is 2 yearly or milege timer.... I choose to do a yearly service.

The point made about this cars service history was that it had been three years between servicing, not two years.

Fair point.
I'm not too clued up on this topic so appologies if it's a stupid question...
I guess I could see how the gear box could be effected, but not the diff? what extra heat does that experience?

Problem with white cars is that they need to be kept white at all times in order to look good. Anything else will make it look like it's got skidmarks.... :D

A white car looks best when it's either pristine, or when it's filthy. Anything in between looks like you're too lazy to wash it, but not dedicated enough to drive it in all weathers.

Ignoring the quality of the OEM refit process, I think who ever has done this has been very sensible. It's a desirable colour and people always prefer to buy cars as standard. All he/she has done is optimise a car for the buying market.

I've often thought about doing something similar by buying a hideous bodykitted E30 325i Cab and restoring to OEM, detailing my efforts on a blog that I would call De-Pimp My Ride. I'd be doing it for my own interest though, rather than making a profit, so it's all far more honourable.

My concern lay not with the chap's honour! In fact, good luck to him spotting a clever way of having a free ///M coupe for a few months :P I was more concerned what would happen if important things like the brakes had been given the same (lack of) attention to detail as the exhausts... Might be worth an MOT +/- formal inspection before parting with cash.
As for reverting to OEM before selling, I agree with you James - in fact I've kept my sideskirts, exhaust back boxes, wheels, whip antenna, CDV, etc etc for the sad day that I decide to get rid of my ///MC (like that'll ever happen :D )

You'd put the CDV back on?

No, probably not! I kept it just in case... In the same way that I kept the knackered cam shaft from my Westfield!
