Headlight washer tube diameter?

Morning all,

I want to remove the fuse for my headlight washers and also fit a not return vale (the wrong way) in the plastic tube that runs from the reservoir to the washers themselves.

My thought process is that I can’t stand the bloody things because of the mess they make on a freshly cleaned car, and It’s a weekend car that I keep very clean anyway.

I thought by fitting a non-return valve I could avoid the need to remove the bumper to address a minor leak that will no longer exist, but still be able to sort in future if the MOT ever reverts to pre 2018 requirements.

So, does anyone now the internal diameter of the feed to to the washers please?

Also, which fuse is it that needs to be pulled to disable the headlight washer pump?

Hi there, I've got spare headlamp washer hoses somewhere in my shed so I'll try to dig them out and measure for you tomorrow.

I just had a look and it's definitely Fuse 40. :thumbsup:
 
Thanks Mr Tidy, I’ve pulled fuse 40, and operated the windscreen washers with the lights on multiple times... it seems that the act of pulling Fuse 40 stops the leak anyway as the water pressure drops and the pump isn’t in an ‘always on’ mode flowing water.

I was really surprised that such a small pump has a 30 AMP fuse though :?
 
Sincere apologies to True-Blue - I just couldn't remember where I had put them, then I couldn't find my calipers to measure them :oops:

But I'm glad pulling the fuse solved the problem. :thumbsup: Although they do seem to be 10mm internal diameter.

A 30 Amp fuse does seem high as that allows for 360 Watts, but then they do squirt loads of fluid quite a long way - when they aren't disabled. :lol:
