Unfortunately, plod doesn't garner too much respect from the public these days. A self inflicted wound of course mostly attributed to PC bollox. And no, he wasn't a character in "Heartbeat".
In the UK today we have a large slice of the population who have no respect for themselves or anybody else and this is handed down to their offspring.Whats the answer is anybody’s guess.
True, but I don't see what your comment has to do with mine about the police.
Ok ,I miss read your post meaning.

This from Derbyshire constabulary this afternoon....you can’t blame them....

“This is being typed from our office while most of the team is out in the few available vehicles.
It’s been snowing most of the afternoon, just as forecast.

It’s the middle of winter, Bleaklow and Kinder are the highest points in Derbyshire.

We are in the throes of a pandemic placing restrictions on all our recreational activities.

Upwards of 200 cars were parked on Snake Pass summit early this afternoon, busier than a summer bank holiday, but with the main difference being the large white things dropping out of the sky. Presumably the occupiers of these vehicles were out on the moors. It seems many don’t have the common sense to check the forecast, dress themselves suitably, have a capable vehicle or driving skills, never mind the fact perhaps they shouldn’t have been stretching the advice given by the govt’ so as not to overburden our NHS.

Never mind though, just ring the police and expect them to come along with their magical snowmobiles. Of course, with our superpowers we can simultaneously deal with winter situations, in the Goyt valley, Mam Nick, Curbar gap and others. And we’re covid proof didn’t you know?

Joking aside please don’t be stupid, it shouldn’t need more of an explanation than that.

Hopefully the evening won’t deteriorate into a mass of emergencies. We'll deal with what we can, but our underpants aren’t in the outside and we can only knock so much common sense back into society”.

They sound really pissed off.... :headbang: :headbang:

Is this the same chief constable who tried shaming dogwalkers early into lockdown by posting drone footage of them " not " committing any offence

Dunno.

What has that got to do with folk endangering their own lives, rescue services lives, causing potential grid locks due to accidents in the snow which hamper everyone, creating further potentially dangerous situations and taking time off plod that might be needed on an emergency call.....? :?

I think the folk who drive 50 miles to walk a peak seem to find it much easier to justify their excursion but overlook the risks to others if they were to need help. Whatever mistakes may have been made by experts /politicians you can't save some people from themselves!!
How do you know they drove 50 miles? Maybe they were locals.
Maybe they were Steve although its clearly reported that some were not....You don't need to look too hard to see accounts of people driving many more miles than that ( from essex herts south coast and elsewhere) and then on sunday they need rescuing by assorted police / mountain rescue volunteers.
Maybe we should just all crack on, rely on others to do the right thing and welcome to Tier 5 and the economic, health and employment challenges that will bring.

Most locals have more sense Steveo. When you read of, hear from rescuers themselves, and yes I do know some of the Edale mountain rescue chaps personally, the vast majority are to folk from other counties. If you’d seen our village on New Year’s Eve you’d realise, it was bedlam, we live at the foot of Baslow edge leading to Curbar and Froggatt edge, prime walking and climbing area, cars were driving round all day looking for a parking spot, so many different reg plates, one was even from the Channel Islands.

:headbang: We've had some "fun" here in Glen Coe with fecking muppets hand feeding carrots to the red deer herds. So they can get nice photos for Facebook and Instagram. Apart from bringing the main road through the Highlands to a halt while they stop to get their photos, the twats are endangering both other motorists and the red deer as the deer associate cars with food now and spend even more time at the roadsides... :headbang:

:telloff: If these people had another brain, they'd have one. Like a previous forum member said. Maybe if they spent a night stranded in the cold and managed to survive they would think twice next time. Or maybe they are just Numb from the neck up. :fuelfire:

There have been Highland cattle grazing on the heath moor near us for decades, until a couple of years ago a retard bitch from Sheffield decided she’d walk through them, in springtime in the middle of calving, with her dog OFF the lead....I mean wtf...!! Then she gets trapped by them defending their calves, goes into a full blown triggered bitch assault and kicks up such a stink the farmer has a writ slapped on him to have them slaughtered because of this mental hysterical retard. He lives in the village here, is 80, the nicest gentlest old boy you could meet, sings in my wife’s church choir, drops home grown flowers and runner beans off to all sorts in summer, would help anyone, well the poor man was in tears, utterly devastated, he knew each and every cow up there, never had any trouble in 30 years until miss braindead victim throws a PC tirade of abuse. Fortunately they’re back now after a two year battle to get them returned. These are some of the t**ts you get..... :x

Wales is in Tier 4 lockdown as I most of England, we have had people from London / Milton Keynes and a group of people from different households in a minibus trying to climb Pen-y-Fan at the weekend.

They get spoken to and turned away, fines need to start being issued and not the £60 that is being dished out, they should be getting £60 each plus the driver £60 per person in the vehicle.

Same at house parties, £60 each and the home owner £60 per person, one or two of these types of fines on the news and I am sure a few will think twice about their actions.

As I said a while back, they should all be sprayed with indelible ink and refused treatment if they subsequently turn up at hospital with covid.

I certainly agree with that, Spain are taking names of those that refuse the vaccine, I have a feeling they won't get treatment if they refuse to take it.

Mountain climbing in Norfolk, maybe hill walking - better of skinny dipping, you may catch a cold but at least you should be covid free

There is a causeway onto Lindisfarne and it gets covered fairly quickly, the authorities have erected signs which read:-

WHEN THE WATER REACHES HERE -DO NOT PROCEED.

Yet still the RNLI etc are called to ferry people from the elevated platform!
It doesn't happen once in a blue moon either!

A couple of years ago we sat and watched 4 guys in a Landrover deliberately leave the road as they crossed the causeway. No doubt to demonstrate it’s capabilities. Needless to say it sank to the axles and of course they couldn’t get out. I know you shouldn’t laugh at others misfortunes but it was hilarious to watch as the tide came in and their efforts became more desperate. The police eventually arrived and organised a rescue but the last we saw of the vehicle was that water had reached the top of the seats. What a set of plonkers! :D

Well Steve, you'll need to make mountains out of molehills to achieve that.
