HC08 and Deals Gap

How many of you lovely people who are going to meet a Deals Gap (Thurs. Noon) are then going to check in to their hotels afterward?

Or are you going to checkin first then drive to Deals?

My reservation starts Thursday so I cannot check in until 3PM. We should be just arriving from the Dragon around then...
 
Since we have a nine hour drive on Wed. I have booked a reservation in one of the Cottages at the Tapoco Lodge for the night. http://www.tapocolodge.com/index.html

It's only three miles from Deals Gap... That way we will be refreshed and ready to tackle the Dragon.... :rofl: :thumbsup:
 
I'll be coming from the TN/NC road and will drive the Tail on my way to Deal's Gap. My plan was to perhaps drive it up and back down to Deal's Gap and set off from their. It is 148 miles to Greenville from Deal's Gap which would accommodate the 3pm book in time.
 
The way that Google maps want me to go it, it drive up the Tail to get to the Deals gap. :thumbsup:

Then I can drive back down the Tail on the way to HC.... :evil:

Driving on the Tail you will actually see the photogs. Then you will spend some time over the next few days trying to see if they took a pic of you. They must have been out to lunch when I was there alas, no photos.. :(

Check in Wed. afternoon , chill with some of the early arrivals, and drive up in the a.m. with IMZ4N, and some others(?), to drive The Dragon.

Yes, I get to wake him up. imz4n and roadcar and maybe coolz4, will drive up on Thursday morning. From the looks of it we will drive right by where Ship will be staying. Maybe weshould wake him up on our way by?


Ship just so you have a idea. From what 20ducks is saying, he will drive the Dragon three times that day. The dragon is between Tenn and NC. Deal's Gap is in NC on the south end. Thats is what I am hearing anyway ( I think )

When we arrive on Wednesday we will most likely be doing some laundry, then chill at ES HO.
 
That's another question.

I am use to traveling with LUGGAGE.

How may changes of attire do you really need at one of these events? Never really had to pack the boot on the Zed for a trip. Plus, I have a woman in the car so MOST of the space will belong to HER. :headbang:

I don't know, since I usually am by myself, but Bob seemed to pack everything (plus the kitchen sink), quite well on his last trip over :wink:
 
Lets see the wife and I share a softside bag for clothes and the cooler set beside it. Car cleaning supplies go on one side ( towels, window cleaner, QD ) and shoes and the wifes required products on the other side and cameras (2), water (10 ), extra batteries, tripod, duct tape, zipties, extra quart of oil, PC, compressor, tire patch, slime, 4 frs radios, umbrella (2), all that kind of stuff under the softtop. I'm sure I missed somethings. Oh , lumbar pillows. beach towels, sunscreen, hats, munchies, reading books, wildlife book.

The object was to pack the car so full that the wife had no room to put anything she wanted to buy unless she was wearing it or eating it. Just for the record it did not work. She had the items she bought shipped home. :cry: :roll:

You can pack your cleaning supplies for the car under the hood. On the right side of the car next to fire wall a bucket will fit. I will not take credit for thid as I learned it from HC06. I have been using ever since.
