Have you raced anyone and if so, what was the outcome

Had a little play with a Lotus Elise 111R I came across last night on a shortcut home (the a5087 "coast road" for anyone who knows furness/cumbria).

Nothing illegal, was on such winding roads that you'd be hard pushed to even break the speed limit, but a bit of chasing and cat and mouse is always fun. Was suprised how well the Z did actually, the lotus supposedly does 0-60 in 4.9 secs and weighs 430kg less then the BM but for the vast majority of the hoon the Z more then held it's own, only thing that let it down probaly was me, being new to the Z I didn't wanna push things so was sensible 8) That and the fact I had a lady friend in the car who was looking less then impressed throughout :driving:

Great fun.

Last week early morning 5:45 am going to work peeing down 12 plate silver M5 in front, i`m getting soaked so sport button, down 2 floored it just as i passed him and get in front i get a quick 2sec burst of the blue lights, ooh ek i thought definate ticket here but no, i go straight on at the next junction he goe`s left, phew close one, i think he didn`t want to get out of the car in the rain. :o

Wtf are the boys in blue doing in M5's?!? That's our tax right there! Grr

When I was 19 I raced someone.

The outcome was a 8 month ban. Clocked doing well into 3 figures.

I haven't broken the speed limit since

I am quite lucky as I use my 520d as my daily & it is barely capable of breaking the speed limit! :headbang:

I just sit in it like driving miss daisy & watch everyone blitz by me while I chase the best mpg figure I can get

It is true though its not big & clever to race I was sat along side my bro in law when be got banned in his Astra Gsi racing his mate in his Astra gte years ago, he got radared at 84mph in a 30mph it was so stupid he got banned for a year, £600 fine & had to take an extended driving test at the end of the ban he was in his thirtys when it happened so not a young lad.

He has a V8 M3 now to have fun in, he hasn't slowed down much though but its worth always thinking before you go too crazy, you always have to think what if?

The problem as some see it with the 111R is most its performance is at 6200rpm-8500rpm so to get the most you have to rag the hell out of it. On paper the 111R is faster then my 111S but i prefer the low down torque of the 111S which for the record is faster then my old 350Z GT 300 upto legal speeds.

I found with my Z4 people tried if on, same with the Elise but with the 350Z people stayed clear.

:D tough

I once took on a 350Z when I used to have the roadster. Was on an empty A14 (during an England football match so was like Xmas day out there). Toyed with each other from Colchester until about 5 miles outside Ipswich when I decided enough was enough and left him/her for dust.

With ///Molly most are either too scared or just not up to it (boyed up Corsas out to prove a point etc). Funny really.

I guess the moral of that story is, its not yourself you have to worry about when having a bit of a play its the idiot your racing as if he makes a mistake your both in the s**t together! :o

Well it's obviously only the other person that would make the mistake,
Hang on though, maybe he is thinking exactly the same....

A 3.0i roadster wouldn't leave a 350Z for dust if drivers were equal in skill level and trying.
Not quite 'for dust' (slight exageration on my part; mainly for drama!), but I did okay.

Hoping I revive the thread!! And for the record this is no trap, a quick burst from 0-60 or whatever the speed limit allows is legit.

Just had a race with a an audi a3... Not sure what kind although it looked nice - it was debadged and in pearl white with black rims. left it for dead.

Had a tit in a focus try it and I'm guessing it was 1.6/1.8 as it wasn't the ST and again I killed it.

Sad really but I can't find many cars worth racing, who are interested :(

Nope. All verts. Seriously tho? I know the o.p. didn't want any "rubbish" posts about racing but its never a good idea. U just don't know who ur racing:-

The best that can happen is u get away with it which just encourages you to do it again until something happens. And it only takes the slightest error in judgement (maybe not urs) and u could kill yourself, or even worse someone else. Keep it for the track. And u can still get done for driving without due care within the speed limit btw.

Sorry to be a bore. Flame away....

No flaming here. Driving back from Heathrow this evening I was "proceeding" up the A419 nr Swindon and came up behind an unfeasibly clean white Volvo estate. It was an 05 plate and no obvious antennae on the roof, but something didn't feel right. As I pulled up alongside there were the blue and red lights inside the tailgate and the world's supply of screens etc on the dash.

Are the boys in blue running their motors a bit longer in these tough financial times?

There's minimal crime in the Gloucestershire Constabulary district and for many years they've been using all manner of devious methods of catching speeding motorists as a way to justify their existence. In the past, I've been encouraged to race on the M5 by various unusual vehicles and I always decline because I suspect that they're the rozzers looking for targets, particularly need the Stroud junctions. Likewise, you've got to be wary on the A419, where the fuzz use unmarked cars to trap the unwary.

Right. Now I'm definitely gunna get flamed, but speeding is a crime my friend and cops are there to detect crime. We have the safest roads in Europe largely thanks to those devious boys in blue trying to justify their existence....
