Have you raced anyone and if so, what was the outcome

Saw a Fast and Furious style Mistubishi Evolution 7 or 8 or 9 (Can't tell them apart) on the highway the other day. Slammed to the road, massive rear wing etc, you know the type. Thought we'd have a play. Both took off on 3rd gear. He left me behind by only a couple of lengths which i thought was pretty good by the Zed! (Bus lengths i should clarify  ) I then asked the guy and he told me he's running 600+ hp.

I honestly don't mind losing. I know plenty of "street racers" with lowered Jap rockets with lots of boost and big horsepower that think of "losing a race" as such a huge deal... They look at me opened mouthed when i say i couldn't care less if i win or lose and that i wont mind going up against 600-700hp monsters. It's all for fun i say! It's not like I prowl the streets racing for pink-slips.

I tell them that all those super-turbo-high compression-charged Jap tins with 7000 hp and NOZZZZZ and whatnot, do they drive it everyday like i do? Do they take it up mountain roads like i do? Do they even take it to the track to put their money where their mouth (or ridiculously loud exhausts) is, like i do? So why should i feel ashamed if i "lose" a silly drag race in the highway??

oulton park for me - tried very hard to keep up with my two mates in their boxster s - but failed :-(

was able to keep up with and go past a couple of mx5 s and golf gtis and a r32 .... though i suspect my biggest performance enhancement would be me.

I was pleasantly surprised at being able to keep up with and pass a couple of 944 porsches - i remember those things as the best things since sliced bread when i was a kid, goes to show how technology moves on.

I loved how the traction control and cbc keep a heavy footed clod on the road

dosen't stop you wishing you had a 3.0 or a m...

Then again i could always bolt something like this on: http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=772916 and go out for Supra hunting.

Very wise indeed and could not agree more.

exept the other day when an E39 M5 cought me unaware off a traffic light and handed out my arse over to me. I was actually quite surprised could not catch him once he was off (the next light was only 300 yrds away. :o

Had an other with a Mitsu Evo whatever and once on boost he was rçoughtly on par with me but traffic meant I did not want to play and the fact that I only just picked uo the c ar from the airport so it was still completly cold.

Fun one this year was a Poonamera S footballer pearl white) flashing me on the highway limited to 90 kph (instead of the usual 130). I knoked it down tin 3 rd left 50 yrs and he was back on my tail so I got out the way. Found him again 20 mins later on a small country road kept on his tail for 10 mins just pushing him a little at safe distance and eventually just overtook him on a long right hander on the outside of the corner braked hard to take the tight left and followed through. Bad luck for him its one of my favourite roads. And yes I did wave to the arrogant untalented morron.

Otherwise a few fun bits when people burn you off the red light in their diesel but are good natured (nobody beats my 4 pot oil buner off the red light not even scooters). some really fun runs with bikers from 3 rd gear, really appreciatives and plenty of thumbs up. :)

On track I'lm pretty slow as I don't have the talent or experience but apparently I'm not that slow at all according to the regulars on my 2 local tracks. Was surprised a few weeks ago to, outbraked most Elise and Caterhams and in fact drove faster than most in the rain (ABS is a cheat).

Nice kit and price

Are you tempted? Have you got enough room on your island for it :driving:

I minced a Gallardo in my 640 bhp R33 skyline and i had 30 mile cat and mouse with a AM vantage when i was in my TVR Tamora, that was 50/50. I blew loads of scoobies away in my Jag s type r.

Just enough room to shift to 3rd gear i'd guess! Not enough £££ for such a mod plus it's highly illegal to change aspiration on a car...

Interesting and brief 1st and 2nd gear traffic light getaway versus a Jeep Cherokee SRT or whatever they are. It was quick but not quick enough.

had a play with a mk1 focus rs at the weekend, he pulled away a bit.

last night, coming home from work a new audi tt wanted to play. it lost badly  he wouldn't pull over and in the end had to undertake him

i very rarely succumb to dropping to the level of a 'chav ' in a sports car that wants a challenge at the lights !!!. but i really hate Fords especially focus's ( sorry if anybody has one ). and this was driven by wot looked to be a guy still in his teens!!! ( yes with a baseball cap ) only just managing to see over the wheel. An RS 2.5 FOCUS !!! ( how on earth he can afford the insurance i dont know ). My Zed 3.0i v RS focus, raced off , my hands on the f1 paddles...streaked ahead, down a long stretch , i had my mad moment, it could of lasted to the next set of lights but i could see it getting a bit dicey !!....best thing was i totally forgot my sport button :o

This morning a young lad in an X reg Rover 200 pulled up alongside me at the lights to go straight ahead. Cocky git I thought.

I confess to thinking about it but when the lights turned green you know what? I just couldn't be arsed and he pissed away from me. I had nothing at all to prove and of course he knew it.

I know I am getting old and am warming to the colour purple and Wethers Originals but.I saved a drop of fuel and a few mm on my back tyres........... :)

Those Focus RS's are not as quick as their owners like to think they are. Even the RS500.
just looked it up.... 2.5 RS FOCUS 300bhp 0-60 5.7 secs...........RS500 345BHP 0-60 5.2 secs

Not bad performance figures, it's a pity they are wrong wheel drive!

my last race was an audi r8 v8 with tune, exhaust, filters all the bolt on bits anyway, i absolutely leave him standing......

once we got to the circuit i beat his time but seconds..... were good friends and travel to the circuit together....

i dont come up against much thats faster..... id love to come up against some real exotica and see how far i loose by.....

that whats i love about my little z4m.... its a proper wolf in sheeps clothing, their is NO clue to the insane firepower it has..... methanol On, Warm day.... you better be in something properly fast to take it down.
