filled up your car with fuel at a petrol station, only to realise after you've done it you have no money on you!?

A few years ago i ended up doing this, and was asked to leave my spare wheel. Then went back home, and returned with the money.

Today i almost did it again with the nozzle already in the tank. Thankfully before pulling the trigger i suddenly realised i didnt have my wallet on me

I did this years ago in my local BP garage they just took my details and I had seven days to return and pay.

I received a letter thanking me for coming back, It seemingly happens a lot. They even have a printed book for your details.

My Wife has a Rover 25 so leave it out. :D If you ignore the small rust spots, the tape deck, deafening rattle from the doorcard and the walnut interior, then it's quite a good car.

Joking aside it cost me £800 and I've only spent money so far on 4 new tyres. Had it 20k miles and 2 years.
Can't ask for more than that. The Z4M is 7 years younger and done the same mileage and so far CD changer and washer nozzle have broken. The Z4M also rattles more than the Rover. lol

Here in the US, we can't get fuel unless we prepay with cash or use a credit card before the pumps will dispense....So no sign of this happening.

...'I've only spent money so far on 4 new tyres'.

- didn't they write it off?

My friend has an old mini that would just take a puncture to make it financially un- :D viable to repair

Well it was cheap to buy, cheap to run (so far) 38/39mpg, good to drive, does the job, end of! :P

Now where were we... :D

Bet you got some funny looks putting the nozzle in, take it out and drive off again :D

Filled up at a station near M6, Stoke last week and saw on the pump a notice that in essence said:

To complete a 'letter of intent to pay' £25. Failing to return within 24 hours to pay it £250 costs added by debt collection agency .. ouch!!

Def not one to get it wrong at.

No, i still went into the shop and told the assistant as i felt uncomfortable about it looking like a 'drive off', even though no fuel went in.

I've managed to do this on several occasions

Nowadays it's possible to make payment over the phone so my lovely wife was kind enough to make paymen for me

I filled up once - then without thinking just drove away without paying.
As soon as I got on the main road, I realised what I had done and doubled back.
The garage said it was O.K. - they had me on CCTV camera and noted my reg number.

I was going through a stressful time at work when it happened.

Ultimately though if you are going to fill up and then not pay you are hardly liklely to waltz in and tell them are you....or are you..? Meh...?? :?
