Has the bloody road tax gone up again?

i probably only drive it once a month anyway so off road for 2 months over winter would not really make that much difference

my issue is whether or not outside my house is classed as a public highway

Aah I can see your point-is it a grey area re outside of your house?

its an un adopted road, i put barriers around the car and put a cover over it, the council do nothing with it at all, its very grey

Paid 490 last week for ///M
That's what I pay for my M3 & when I had my Zed I always thought I can tax a V8 for the same money it just doesn't make fair sense to me.

Why should a 3.2 straight six & a 4.0 V8 be the same price to tax surely the V8 should cost more.

I might get a 116d next I think that's free!

Unfortunately the car industry only pulled the finger out and got a grip on emissions control technology in the last 5 or 6 years, after our engines were designed. I guess that coincided with a drop in sales of high emissions vehicles starting to really bite their bottom line, as a result of higher VED and of course the tax levied on company car drivers calculated in relation to emissions.

personally i think it should be on mileage only, if i do more miles i should pay more

Same here. If they want to base it on emissions then surely it should be based on how much co2 you are actually emitting ffs!!!
