Just to echo Pauls comments, A big thank you to Craig also for his efforts in leading us , great fun on the run thro valley and the run up to Alston , when we managed to get away from the group :driving:
Good stuff Craig
Cheers M

Thanks Maurice and praise well earned but in the best 'RAF Battle of Britain' tradition 'Steady on Simon' 8) - plenty of action going on at the back with Swiftly setting a cracking pace :P In fact the standard of driving was excellent again.

Yeah was good driving across the group and it's so easy to get into the motions when driving and enjoying your self.

Just puts a downer on things when you then realise what you think (hope) is a loose heat shield to then find out its a broken rear coil but all is good I've purchased 2 new springs (suplex product) for £108 and being delivered tomorrow.

Thanks to nick (swiftly) for noticing the break in the coil.

Maybe it was the second up and down trip on the cobbles at Alston that broke your rear spring. I heard a peculiar noise :( :? on the second trip up the cobbles - wonder if it was your rear spring? Expected something to fall off . . .

(I wouldn't be surprised if it was the cobbles that caused Alien to have to stop for the loo at the Petrol Station too)

See - you have a lot to answer for :x  )

Paul please do not think that I am disappointed with our trips out .

I also thought Craig did a great job when asked to do so , teacher and pupil comes to mind.

Didn't think you were disappointed Dave - just frustrated  ( I know others that have had to drive at the back and it's not where they want to be all the time).

Ha, that's kind but no teaching needed, a bit of encouragement perhaps and some reinforcement of the fact we're all wanting the run to be safe and enjoyable. He's a very capable driver but more importantly safe. I always introduce him, as being young, I want folk to know I trust his judgement. Folk come along to a 'Paul and Steph' drive so to put a 'young' guy at the front at times might be a bit concerning. Having done all the recces and planning though, I pick the places for this based on lots of parameters. (Now that is the ex Ass Head Teacher coming out in me . . . N.B. some would say the most accurate part of that title is the 'Ass' bit  )

So what is that whoofled cough in your exhaust - all part of the paddle gear change?

That'd be when the rest of us stopped and took a leisurely look at the industrial archaeology - the stroll down the drift mine was very interesting . . . . .

Like the whoofled cough description ,it only happens when I've got a z behind me bit like saying "bye-bye " . No only joking I think your on the right lines but to be totally honest I don't know . Hopefully someone on here can explain Paul.

Relatively easy to fit these rear springs yourself Craig - we could do this at Mike's if he was willing . . . .

Nice pointer Nick

Some great photos folks!
I only took a couple but not worth posting as they are similar to others and quality isn't great on the iPhone.

Seems I got lucky by turning up late as I got a free run on the Hartside road, :D :driving: no traffic in front of me and just a few motorbikes and couple of cars going the opposite direction, an old Laguna that was all over the place coming out of a corner and that same black merc!

Also had a good drive back home up the A68 in a mini convoy with Swiftly, not too many hold ups on the way but a slightly steadier pace than earlier in the day, even managed to get 4th and 5th gear a few times! :D :driving:

Glad you got to drive the road Richard and being in a mini convoy home certainly makes the journey more interesting

I've had a look on YouTube it's a 2man job though if we were to use mikes pit and a ratchet strap you could get away with doing your self but.... I have a problem they arrived today but the wrong ones they've sent me the standard springs and I need the mtech (sport) coils so they are getting collected tomorrow so might not get them till next week now. If they arrive before my next day off I will let you know but that being Monday so I don't think I will be that lucky.

Thanks for the complements guys. I normally only feel comfortable taking over if I am 100% sure where I am going because I would hate to think I took people the wrong way :poke: but I knew Maurice needed petrol....... that influenced the detour  and getting the pace right is always difficult with me being younger some might think I've got a led foot hahaha

Aw bugger ,getting withdrawal symptoms as I have missed a few runs now. All because my employer has imposed shift work on all staff,it was either that or leave.and as I have worked there 31 years now a bit late to jump ship. Looks like next 2016 before I can make another, enjoy everyone , just having a little rant :)

Hi Peter, good to hear from you. Let's hope your shifts work out for next season and we get to see you on a few runs

Thanks. I will have my new quota of holidsys then so I will get to some. As he types this at 2 27am in a world of work lol
