Hardtop on Alpina rs

IMHO the hardtop for your Alpina needs to be silver. The grey is ok but not quite right and if you had it wrapped in black I think it would jar a bit as you've no other black features/accents such as grilles or wheels to tie it all together.
The Alpina is a special car and yours looks a very original unmolested example that deserves a matching and complimenting hardtop  20180831_223631.jpg

Hi OP mine is Titan and I’ve got a Stirling top. Check out my thread (signature) and go to the bottom of the first page. If you’re local then welcome to view? Doesn’t look quite right but still good. My Zed is a WIP. Always wanted to carbon wrap it! But we’ll see! Better than a completely random colour like blue!

Just a word of advice to the OP. I would double check that your RS is indeed prepared for a hard top. I had a fellow RS owner come to buy my one a few years ago and just as we went to go fit it, we noticed the prep was not in place. This was a UK supplied car. I understand this was a “one off” but definitely worth checking I advance.

If I remember correctly when you drop the top there will be a locating hole behind each door shut which the hardtop pins drop into. They may be covered by a plastic cover which can be lifted off. It’s fairly obvious once the top is down.

Found these pics showing hardtop prep kit on bimmerfest:

As Gee says, they are located under this plastic cover:

I also found what looks like a sterling grey hardtop on a Titanium silver Zed on the same thread!

Thank you, it's a real help being on this forum.
Picked a hardtop up yesterday, sterling grey, immaculate condition with cover and fitting tool. Lining inside slightly bubbled so got it down to £400, had to travel 250miles each way to get it , but think it's a bit of a bargain!

Thanks, I think it looks nice too, but stilltoying with the idea of paying 200 to get it sprayed, either black or silver to match the car. Decisions decisions :headbang:

Very true Marlon.
Would black be a better look than silver do you think?

Looks quite a nice and fairly subtle contrast, possibly aided by the fact it's wet,if you know what I mean. (Might look more contrasting in bright dry, sunny weather).
If I were getting it resprayed, which I would if it were mine,I would go for matching Titanium Silver op
As said, the car deserves a matching hardtop :D
Looks a nice Alpina you have got
