Halogen Headlights or not?

Hi, I know that this subject has been covered alot in alot of threads but the information and the opinions are so vast that i can't seem to get any straight answer. So please anyone who
has experience over this matter say your opinion.

I took some pictures of my cars headlight instalation (didn't have the time to take the headlight out so i don't have pics of the headlight), as you can see in the photos there is an external ballast installed for my xenon which probably means that my headlight had halogen bulbs and the previous owner used an aftermarket HID kit to install xenons on the car. The OEM xenons i think have the ballast inside the headlight casing ( correct me if i am wrong ).

Can anyone confirm that these are halogen ones and not Xenon?

I have decided to change my headlights. I found these on ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/321006395265?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

As you can see they say that they are HID type and not the non HID type that RHD ones are ( like the ones KarlosG installed in his car). This means that they are xenon compatible from what i understand. One thing i couldn't understand from previous topics is whether the beam auto adjustment feature is something that is installed on the car or on the OEM headlights? If it is installed on the car will the particular headlights be able to make use of it? Edit: CJ10JEEPER Confirmed that the auto adjustment mechanism is inside the headlight.

I have seen that 2 members from this forum have installed this particular headlight. What can you tell me about it? Is it misting at all? Are you happy with your purchase? Any error poped on your dash after installation? Are you using Halogen bulbs or you installed aftermarket HID kits?

The height adjustment switch from inside the cabin ( the one on the picture ) is still usable after the installation?

Sorry for the long post. Drive safe! :driving:

As far as I know, it's illegal to have xenons without auto-leveling system (which is serial in car with xenons) and cleaning system (which pops out from bumper).

It is not xenon. Or it's illegal xenon which blinds other drivers

Sorry for quality, but I don't have other picture which perfectly shows switch. As You can see, my car lacks this lights-level switch. It has serial xenons, and there is also system for cleaning headlights (same as for windshield).

It's not illegal - plenty of posts in this

PS my Z4 with retrofit xenons passed it's MOT a few months ago

Sorry, my mistake - it's illegal in Poland and Switzerland. And actually I agree with that - when You have dirty headlights, light from xenons spreads differently than with normal lights (blinding others). Also auto-leveling system protects other drivers from blinding (people don't set it correctly, or they often forget, when driving car with loaded trunk).

So which headlight should i buy?
the one HID compatible
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321006395265?ss ... 1423.l2649
or the non HID compatible?

Since from my understanding they are both basically the same thing. :headbang:

I had factory xenon and fitted not compatible with factory xenon kit and it all worked great with no errors just got to take them off agin now to adjust the bumper fitting as I have a massive gap at the bottom of the light!

Happy owner of these guys! Can't wait for them to come home!
