and I have just well and truly had my piss boiled by them !
In an attempt to rationalise my credit cards and get a card with no transactions fees abroad, I decided to shut down my Halifax a month ago. They told me to cut up card and pay off the balance which I did, not once did they ask why I was closing the account. Anyway, fast forward to this month I discover they do a good deal on a no transaction fees card, so I applied for it online, only to be told that I couldn't apply for a card as I already held one.
So I rang them, and told them what the issue was at which point they insisted on taking me through the whole application process again, as I did not have the number for my old credit card ( which I had cut up... ). At the end, they told me I couldn't have another one as alhough I met the criteria, my account was still active. I could wait for it to close down and then apply again 30 days after that came into action.
At this point I asked could I not just transfer the current card ( which was obviously still in process of being shut down ) to the one I wanted, but no, I have to do the above. This is completely useless as I am travelling to Germany next month and having dental implants done which is why I wanted a no transaction fee card.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH......... Neither can I apply for a Lloyds card who offer a similar deal as they are linked to the Halifax credit cards, and the Post Office ( yes the Post Office ) turned me down.
