Today we had to make the decision to put our lovely Fox terrier Flint to sleep after nearly 14 years . Such a hard decision but the right one .

Such a hard thing to do but as you rightly say the right thing…been there so I know how you feel. But you did good…you can’t go weak and let them suffer can you. My condolences, they get right under your skin as you know.

Thank you John . You cant and that is the one thing we keep telling ourselves .He had a good life and was spoilt . We always took him away with us and I think the longest we ever left him on his own was for 5 hrs . Going to miss him so much .

It heart breaking. You gave him the best life you could. He had happy times and you have happy memories.

Its never easy, but he had you all the way. He lived a full life. x

Definitely  As you are local I will just say that we took him straight from Leonards Vets in Whitchurch to Coton Meadows https://shropshirepetcrematorium.co.uk/ .

The vets and Coton Meadows were both excellent .

My condolences and such a heartbreaking time. He looks a lovely little fella.

Had my Cairn for 16 years and passed away in 1992, still lots of fond memories to hold onto.

So sorry, condolences to you.

I’ve been there myself, I can understand your present state of grief. Time is a great healer.

It’s like losing a family member. Years of unconditional love and loyalty. They are an example to the human race. Really feel for you..

So difficult, horrible, horrible decision to make. That is just the worst.

I always say, I rate dogs higher than humans when it comes to loyalty and trust.

All the best

As John said above I’ve been there…. it was about 20 years ago but I remember it like it was yesterday.

It is a very, very tough thing to do, but the fact that you were brave enough to do it shows how much you cared and loved him. The bottom line is you just know when the time is right to let them go, but remember the good times and fun you had, he will never leave your heart ❤️ .

What you have done shows how much you cared and put your pet first. Its not easy and the feeling of betrayal is difficult, but you did the right thing by Flint and that's what counts.

We have found it comforting having our favourite picture blown up and framed which now hangs on the conservatory wall overlooking the garden with her ashes.

I feel for you.

Thank you to all of you from myself and my partner Karen . It is so good to read your comments which are helping us to deal with our loss .

Very sad, we lost ours 3 years ago.
Maybe not to everyone's taste but I bought one of these and have a small amount of her ashes by my PC monitor. It's only small.
It has a picture engraved and a message that you can add.
The rest of her ashes are with the cats ashes in a large plant pot with a small tree growing well.
