GruppeM and strutty fitted....

Looking good!
I need to get my V3’s on the car too once my lungs are back on track.
(Nice to hear someone agree on the aeroskirts, they make 1 line too many IMHO)

+1 for the Gruppe... turns the beast into an angry fuel overdosing monster

That’s the downside Jembo, you cannot resist booting it can you....honestly it’s drinking fuel at a scary rate, I’m seriously going to have to limit how much I use it I could easily do over half a tank in two nights hooning, that’s ridiculous...! :o

Thanx for asking, just the flu of some sort who knows what, but it’s going away at least. :)

I saw that on one of "Truth's" photos and wondered about it, but as mine is booked in for an Inspection 2 by Ross I held myself back!

Even without a GruppeM I still can't resist booting it - maybe the Powerflow back-boxes don't help.

I think your "over half a tank in two nights hooning" problem is due to the size of the tank - 55 litres don't go far in an M! But it's nearly as economical as my old Capri 2.8 Injections were back in the day, and way better than my Rover P6B 3500S was so I look at fuelling the M as money well spent!

Especially now the only way to have some fun seems to be to make an essential trip (the long way round obviously).

Ah ok, nasty obviously but at least not anything long term...

Tbh the aero skirts are a 50/50 split, sometimes they look great, others they make the “waist” of the car too wide if that makes sense. It’s a fit and see scenario, if it’s a no they’ll be up for sale.

Oh I can make a trip to fetch a can of cat food from the local village shop take 30miles easily....!! :driving:

To all the M3 strut brace owners in this thread: What sort of vertical clearance measurement do you have between the top of your fuel rail and the underside of your strut brace bar please? And have you ever checked for signs of contact between the two after a few hundred miles of driving?

The edge of the air box is higher than the fuel rail wonkeydonkey, at a guess there’s around 10-15mm clearance between that and the base of the strut. 100% zero contact.

Im going to put my strutbrace on this weekend. What are the torque spec of the bolts?

Seen 34nm but wanted to ask for opinions.

Cheers

Thanks [ref]john-e89[/ref]. I've also had helpful info from [ref]Attilio[/ref], with a healthy gap of over 10 mm between the fuel rail and the strut brace. Just awaiting new self-locking nuts before I remove mine from the strut tops, but I already know that I'll have less than 5 mm of clearance there. I think it must be down to the aftermarket (Vibra-Technics) engine mounts my car has.
