From inside the car, the standard exhaust is fine. But it's almost inaudible in tunnels/drive bys with the windows down.ITAG said:

As long as it's louder than the Simota, then I'll be happy, after all my exhaust is only 89dB as measured at Oulton Park on Saturday.
Sorry, just had a quick look through the thread and realised I hadn't posted after installing my Gruppe-M last week.
I thought I'd already posted, but either haven't or am going blind.
Anyway, just to say that I've not posted a video as I've not noticed any increase in sound over just the exhaust, so didn't think it worthwhile. If anything it might have balanced the volume front & rear, but I can't honestly say I can hear anything extra over the exhaust. Even with the Simota I could hear a little grown for the first 1000rpm or so before it was drowned out by the exhaust.
Maybe it needs to be warm, or the filter needs to 'free up' a little?
Installation was a bit more of a bugger than I was expecting after the Simota, as with that you could assemble everything indoors and then just swap out the intake & MAF sensor outdoors.
If you try to do that with the Gruppe-M you'll find you've got to disassemble half of it again to get it in place. The 'Engrish' instructions are not up to much either.

Yep, a white one in the pack with the allen key. Think I might stick mine on the rear window.
I went out again today (in 2ºc & slush) - car didn't slide, kill me dead, or anything else exciting. Didn't even have the TC light flashing on full bore acceleration (admittedly in 3rd).ITAG said:

On part/half throttle I get a growl from about 2500rpm to 3500rpm and then I can hear it at random times up the range - although not at the same revs each time, so it must be a load thing too.
Overall I'd say it definitely balances out the exhaust, even if it isn't as in-your-face as it would have been without the exhaust
Got to find some tunnels to really test it out though. Pity the Mersey tunnels are 30mph limits :thumbsdown:

That piece is still restrictive fi or not. A free flow one isn't going to hurt especially if one is doing air box mods anyway..........JAD said:
My z4m is blown so I've had the piece in my hands numerous times as i no longer use it.....
I'm refuring to the large pipe that connects the air box to the intake btw, nit the intake plenum which is a really nice piece on the s54.

Apologies, my post sounds rather "and that's that". It was more a surprise that a smoother intake pipe would make that big a difference to power on a NA engine. Perhaps a less dramatic bend could be the answer?
