Great idea - thanks! - The cover may help protect the hood motor from getting too wet?

Marco I recently contacted them about a group buy as I wanted one but they weren't interested at all they wouldn't budge on price which I did find strange but they turned me down flat!

Ditto. I think a few of us have tried and not gotten anywhere - they cited rising material costs to me.

So good luck! Getting a list of names first and then approaching them may be the way to crack it. They are excellent covers, regardless of any potential discount.

Is it easy for someone to just take it off and possibly steal it ? That would be my issue .....?

This is covered in the other tread but there are tabs that are shut in the doors and boot to prevent this.

When are you thinking of doing this Marco? Or are you waiting for a certain number of applicants?

Hi, not sure on exactly when, I was going to give a it a little while just so we can get as many people on board as possible and give others the chance to join in. I'm open to suggestion but should we aim for by the end of next week? Ill take whatever numbers we have by then and make contact with the retailer......

Not unless they want to try ripping it and ruining the whole thing, or they want want to try cutting off the attachment lugs and whole rear end.

That sounds about right to me, though you might get more names if you time it so payment is made just after the next payday?

Well hopefully if you go back to them with firm numbers they may shift a bit on price but I would be wary about how much they would shift as they weren't prepared to discount when I asked them, I will buy one but they need to make it worth our while if they are selling multiple units otherwise I won't bother :D

That was my thinking but I currently park my car on what I think might technically be a road, so I might cause problems if I'm not displaying. It is quite out of the way so it probably won't be a problem but I don't generally have great luck. I probably won't bother tbh.

Mine's parked on the road as well and I'm reliably (?) advised that traffic wardens don't bother to check the disc anymore due to ANPR.

If you re-tax on-line then all the insurance / mot checks are done so we ALL know we're legal - simples :D

surprised that there`s not more people interested

It is expensive. You can get a decent half cover for half the price and I think I would have, were the car not parked on a residential street.

Would recommend getting the window for an extra tenner, since you never know when it might come in handy.

I'll pipe up with my first post to add my name to the list - was looking at one of these anyway reasonably soon, especially with the horrid weather.

Hi everyone, I know that you have all settled on the cabrio shield but if they won't move on price, have a look at this alternative. I bought on last year and am very pleased with it. completely waterproof and has never been affected by the strong winds etc. there are no straps etc so if you live in a high crime area that may be a problem, it isn't for me and i always think that if someone wants it a few straps won't stop them anyway. good value for money at half the price. :D

Just to let you all know. It has never been an offence not to have your tax disc on display on the Public Highway if it is obscured by a cover or snow etc. A traffic gestapo or policeman are not even allowed to lift a cover up to check the number plate. So how would they know you have a residents permit or tax disc? I hear you ask.
I asked this question last year at Portsmouth City Copshop as I wanted to know the Law on this.
They would write to the address that it was parked outside of, was the reply, to ascertain if the vehicle was taxed etc.
Traffic Gestapo officers have even been reprimanded for swiping away snow to check tax discs.
Although as already stated, the discs will soon be obsolete.

Thanks "kat", that cover doesn't look bad at all. I'll still approach the original retailer, and if they wont budge on price, everybody who has opted in can decide how to proceed.....I might be tempted to go for this one at half the price! If it comes to that, I can then approach this ebay seller and see if we can better that price....... :driving:

Anyone else have this cover from ebay that "kat" is talking about? Would be nice to get a few opinions on it....

Hi Marco I am with you on that as it looks quite good and at nearly half the price I would be really tempted as I still think the cabriolet shield is too expensive. So count me in for that one.

Mmmmmm! I think the old adage you get what you pay for may apply? £99 too expensive to protect your pride and joy? That's the cost of a pair of running shoes is it not?
