I wonder if this would do the trick?

I think that’s too big at 135/90. 135 is the width of the tyre in mm and 90 is the profile (depth) as a percentage of the width. Hence 225/40 (front) has the same rolling circumference as 255/35 (rear) for an 18” wheel on a staggered setup, which is the same as 125/80 on a 17” rim.

So you can see that, if 125/80R17 is the correct size, 135/90R17 is too big. It would be correct for a X3/4x4 type which runs on a higher profile tyre. Sure it might get you home, but I wouldn’t drive more than a few miles with the wrong sized wheel on.

You can check wheel tyre size vs your current set up on willtheyfit.com

The other thing to check is the age of the tyre, as an original spare out of a 15-20 year old vehicle will be well past it’s best.

Whereabouts are you? I would consider selling you mine but I wouldn’t want the hassle of having to post it.

A few on here:

You can get a kit with cover and jack for not much more if you don’t mind a cheap tyre.

Can anyone help advise me on what size/kind of space saver I would need for a 2006 3.0si MSport please?
Just interested, but why do you want a space-saver especially?
It will take up a lot of room and if you have non run flats a tin of tyre weld is more convenient, surely?

Invaluable advice! I'm in Stockport area - Greater Manchester etc....

Goodpoint about the tyre weld - I always thought it made the tyre unrepairable but I may be wrong....

In my experience that’s true. My wife had to bin a nearly new Michelin Cross Climate because no local repairer would touch it with tyre weld in.

I've read in a couple of places that Holts Tyre Weld is easier to clean out than some alternatives so may be a better option, but I've no personal experience of that.

But it's a bit like repairs - most places won't repair a punctured run-flat as they'd rather sell a new tyre. :(

My usual tyre place repaired a P Zero run-flat for my 1 Series and I got more than 12K miles out of it without a problem, but they're an independent rather than one of a chain!
