Gotta hate car parks - UPDATE :-)

Dropped the M135i off at BMW early this morning and should hopefully be ready next Tuesday BUT I will have no car to wash over the weekend, I just don't know what I'm gonna do :?

Don't forget that the car won't have any fuel in nor tread on the rear tyres.
Watch out for the dubious stains on the upholstery and marks that look like they've been made by stiletto heals!!
I jest!

One thing I would check is for dings where they have parked it all over the carpark and all and sundry park next to your car banging their doors into your car.

/speak from painful experience!

Hi all,

Received an unexpected call to say the motor was ready for collection, a day early :)

Have to say pretty well chuffed with the results as it looks no different from before the damage. Job was done by Knights North Staffs so can thoroughly recommend their bodyshop and they handled everything with BMW Insurance, even collected the car from Knights South Staffs and dropped it back with them for me. I've no idea what the total cost was but guessing a few pennies for replacement bumper, diffuser, paint and labour.

Colour match of the Glacier Silver is spot on along with the finish which is as per original. Thankfully they haven't blown into the rear wings which I'm told they would do to get the paint to match. I have noticed nearly all BMW bumpers regardless of colour are slightly off normally a slightly darker shade, Mineral Grey and Estoril seem to show it the worst but noticed Alpine White can look pretty off.

This pic is the factory rear bumper which in some light appears darker.

These are of the new bumper,

Still pretty pi$$ed its cost me 400 quid for nothing :x

Thanks for all the replies

Glad it's been done well and, as you say, not the most satisfying way of parting with £400.

Please assure me that you spent the time you usually spend washing the car weeding your drive - no-one has a drive that tidy!

Thanks Rob, I've just bought a Nilfisk pressure washer to do the drive

Forgot to add, I chatted to the salesman when collecting the car and you can't order an M135i anymore although I think some 5 door build slots are still available. From May orders are being taken for the M140i which I'm guessing will be deivered in Sept. Power is upped to 335bhp :)

Looking good, but £400 + insurance hike of course :x

I know, this was my deliberation, I was thinking of leaving the damage and taking a hit when trading in but unsure what less trade in they would give me, I'm guessing the total bill to fix the car was around 1500 which they could have knocked off the trade in value but then repair the car at trade cost for a few hundred. No idea how much my premium will go up by as it was a no fault claim but yeah expect it to go up over the next few years, really sucks.

My son ordered a m135 last Monday, no mention of any change then.

I was told its from today, but theres been nothing official from what I've seen regarding M140i launch. I'm guessing BMW are ramping up production of the new 3.0 engine fitted to the 3 series and that minimum modifications are needed for it to slot into the 1 Series. I was told no more M135is are being built after week 30. If true then the M140i will have a fairly limited run if BMW are still planning on replacing the 1 Series in 2017 with a front wheel drive platform i.e. MINI/2 Series. This means no more 1 Series with a 6cyl :( Will probably get a turbo 4 reworked to get the same power output.

If your sons ordered an M135i then it will be one if the last batch unless he wants to wait for the newer engine. I think the car will essentially stay the same as its only just had the LCI treatment but will just have the revised engine and a rebadge.

He got 20% discount with a bit of my help, I guess the 140 won't be possible with that level.

Don't think it will be far off that with the 140i was told discount will be 500 less on the newer model or an extra 20 quid a month if on a PCP. End of the day they're a bit of a niche model that can be hard to sell as your average Joe wants diesel and economy hence the attractive discounts. To me the cars an absolute bargain with the discounts being offered.
