Keep dreaming Mr Wilks. the 3/4 is great. But straight back it looks heavy to my eye. E85 for me. :D
Well we shall have to agree to disagree , I can't recall one single magazine or film article that indicates a E85 will emerge as a design icon in years to come 8) the E86 has already made it

According to whom has it already made it...?? The sunshine variety club members...?
Well here's how i see the difference 8) buyers of the E85 do so either because they are cheaper & budget doesn't allow for a E86 or in most cases that they want a convertible car , buyers of the E86 do so because they are drawn to the shape & style  if the E85 looked better us coupe owners could save a few ££ & buy one instead
Does anyone ever join the forum with a post " looking to buy a E85 because it looks amazing " no they don't because nobody buys the E85 for its design , therefore the coupe " made it " from the day it left the factory  case close , have a nice day :)

Where are the television and magazine articles that say the E86 has “Already made it”...? Is it in a documentary or something about the perceived greatest cars of our time or such like...?

Coupe owners can save a lot of money buying a 3.0si over an M roady for example, or a cheaper 3.0si coupe over a more expensive Si roady so money has the square root of nowt to do with anything. If I wanted a hard top I wouldn’t buy a Z4 coupe because I think they look quite frankly, crap, far too bulky on the arse end. No offence to any owners. It’s purely down to what you want as usual as everyone is different. I, like BuzyG, much prefer the looks of the E85, and there will be plenty of others, there are plenty of others who prefer the coupe. Neither has “Made it”....they’re just mass produced mainstream cars that we on here happen to like beit in either guise. Case closed, crack on.... :)

Now you come to say that 😁😁
I bought my E85 based on the purity of design, as penned by the man himself.
That was before Abbott's of Farnham got hold of it😂

How does an E89 look anything like a E86 coupe...?? Are you still pissed this morning..? :drinking:

Can you drop the roof on a E86....?? Which is why I buy drop tops....??

Lame Andy....bottom of the barrel lame.....I expected better than that......you’ve run out of arguments.... :poke:

LOL on the greyhound comment. Ever followed a 911 when it pulls away briskly? Now that’s a car having a $h1t if ever there was one...

But E86 does look damn fine in my book though.... 011B52BD-B91C-4083-8BED-5DE4427C5906.jpeg

You singled out the rear of a Zc as "far too bulky on the arse " yet you clearly like that in a car as the E89 has anything but a svelte rear .
Its just opinion John , we are all entitled to one it just so happens i'm right your wrong :P just google " Bmw Z4 coupe reviews " & read a few , they can't all be wrong & i'm yet to read one that would describe the rear as " far too bulky on the arse end "

(Sigh) When did I say the E89 hasn’t got a bulky rear....? It has, clearly, but nothing remotely as bad as an E86, plus it has a flat-ish boot to cancel the squatting dog look to some extent, plus its a drop top that just so happens to have a metal roof instead of canvas which makes it a better car.... :P

I’d rather s**t in my hat and punch it than toss my day off scrolling through endless google reviews, and especially reviews about fat arse E86’s.... .....reviews are like opinions and arseholes....fact is I’m right and you’re wrong. :poke: :topicclosed:

Nope not at all , had the C4 997 from last May to January 2020 don't forget so roofdown motoring has been a while for me & not missing it at all , not sure if other ZC owners have made this discovery yet but windows down at full chatt across country its hard to believe you have a roof as the wind buffet through cabin is totally reminiscent of my E85s :P
My weekend cars pre Z were coupes ( 964 , 996 , 645ci , Brera ) then arrived here with a Si ZC , deviated along the way into E85s + E89s but see no return to verts anytime soon , 981 Cayman or M4 (coupe) the only 2 possibles id consider right now

I get the buffeting thing....I dropped all 4 windows on the E89 coming back from Devon on the A30 the other day, was pissing down when we left so had the roof up but dry and bright once towards Exeter. It was ok tbh, but honestly I wanted to pull in and drop the roof down fully...windows down but roof up was like being in the M in town in rush hour....mind bendingly frustrating... I’d have an M2 no question if I could cope with a roof.....but I can’t....so I haven’t... :D

The rear of a Z coupe is something that E85 owners can only dream over

Not all dreams are pleasant.......
