My ‘GoPro HD Hero 2 Motorsport’ arrived this afternoon, not bad as I only ordered it at 9pm last night on Amazon

It was actually classed as 2nd hand, described as a wrong / returned order but still sealed and like new, which it was - Cost £209 inc of priority delivery (the seller was EUElectronics incase anyone else is after a cheap gopro)

I have also ordered a 64GB Qumox 10 class SD card £29 and the GoPro action mount, as I will need to mount it to my bumper and not keen on the suction method

Eurohooner has given me a few tips on the mounting, so if all goes to plan the camera will return in one piece from my trip

I know quite a few others have this camera, maybe worth creating a thread on how we use them, tips and tricks etc

Nice

That's a good price. I'm gonna invest in one of these I think

Hi Stuart, I bought the below mount and adaptor

The plan (if it fits) is that the camera will sit on the lower lip, in front of the grill of my M front bumper (wrapped around the lip, if that makes sense)

Great bit of kit. I bought one (but the outdoors pack - for biking) a couple of months back. I've recorded a LOT of video but yet to actually edit any of it yet. Recently bought Sony Vegas software - £25 from PC World online - after recommendations online, might be worth a look to anyone lacking software to edit...

That's a good point, I will need video editing software

I can get access to adobe premier pro, but would prefer to start on something that isn't heavy - I'll have a look at Sony Vegas software

Thanks

I got the Vegas software too. There was a platinum edition or some such on Amazon for about £30 which included a few extras. That software gets great reviews online. I tried Premiere LE and couldn't get on with it

Have you tried that card yet? Ws just interested as the GoPro website seems to say that the Hero2 will only support up to 32GB SDHC cards...

Yes I noticed this when I read the manual this morning, so have ordered a 32GB aswell!

Anyone who isn't sure of the durability of these cameras then check out this :o

If your 64GB card doesn't work and you want to get rid of it, as long as it's fast enough I'll buy it off you for one of my cameras. Just destroyed one..

Action mount arrived today so had a play on where best I could mount the gopro camera

I decided on the lower lip of the bumper

Going to take it out for a test later today - although there is quite a bit of flex in the bumper so I'm not sure how the camera will hold up on bumps and high speeds

First run with the gopro

I'm really impressed with the quality, although uploading it to YouTube seems to have degraded the video compared to when I plug the gopro into my HDTV

You will see there is some camera movement which I think is down to the bumper flexing at high speeds and on poor road surface. I'm going to see if I can secure the camera to improve this. Also try mounting it on the roll bars.

Nice footage... looks pretty good for a first attempt. Some flex, but not too bad IMO!

Cool mount! I might need to get one of those for mine :-D

Would be interesting to have a fiddle with the mode, 1080 narrow fov would lose the fish eye. For action I tend to drop to 720 to access the 60fps setting as that smooths things out and gives more scope for slow mo edits :)

After trial and error I think I have found the best position for the camera, mounted on the rollbar

Only downside is that i need to remember to remove the camera before I drop the roof :?

Some boring footage using the skeleton case, which i think i will leave at home and take the sound/waterproof case then just edit with a soundtrack overlay

Youtube has reduced the framerate / quality
