Hi everyone - Greetings from South Manchester!

I finally swapped my Z3 (2.0) for a Z4 (2.2) this week after looking around for the right car for the last 9 months! It was hard to give up the Z3 but haven't looked back since getting behind the wheel of the Z4!

I am very pleased with the car so far and glad I waited for the right one to come along.

Here are my first pics. Let me know what you think.

Cheers

Andy

Thanks Guys!

Here is a pic of the Z3 - A great car which gave me 5 years of very happy motoring.

It's not the best pic - but the only one to hand. The hood and leather is blue.

I like the red seats in the black Z4. Why did it take 9 months for this Z4? Fully loaded? Or just for the red seats?

Hello mate, nice looking car and good colour combination. That black paintworks going to keep you busy!!!!!!!!!!! Got any plans 4 it

Ksher - Thanks - yes mainly the red leather/ black combo (nice wheels were a consideration too) and wanted to get through main dealer if I could get a good deal. The extras are just heated seats and wind deflector (essential in South Manchester!).

I could have found one earlier if I had been more pro-active and willing to risk getting one outside of the main dealer network -but was in no rush to part with the the Z3.

A couple fell through because I couldn't get the right deal (glad now - because this one is nicer). Ended up buying from the same salesman who sold us the Z3.

Thanks mate! Yes It was a consideration but I really like the Z4 in black!

In the days I had time to lavish hours on polishing the Z3 (before my daughter came along) I used Maguires 3 step system (4 if you include initial wash).

I checked and the kit is still in the garage - Would that be good a choice for the new car? It seems Zaino is popular here but I don't have any experience of it?

I guess I am going to have to schedule some long lunch breaks when homeworking!

I used the 3 step on my 03 325Ci. Worked pretty well. On my Z4, it's going to be Megs clay and Gold class. Zaino used to be a royal PITA (multiple steps) but they now have an all in one that should work well. It usually tests out better than Megs, but Megs is so easy to apply, I don't mind doing it a little more often.

Nice ride

Beautiful Z4, love the color choices! Hope my transition from 3 to 4 will be for something equally as beautiful as the one you now cherish! Happy Motoring!

Zaino is great but make sure the car has no swirls else the Zaino will just highlight them.
On my Sapphire black Z4M i am currently using Clearkote Vanilla Moose Hand wax glaze (could also use Red machine glaze but i already had the other) topped with Collinite 476S, i've added a couple of layers of 476S to date but this stuff lasts a long time. Megs 3 stage wont last anywhere near as long.
With my current combo even in direct sunlight the swirls are hardly visible and only when your really looking for them. I intend to get the car machined polished (going to borrow a friends Megs G220 i think)at some point in the future when i have enough time to spend the many hours on it it would require and deserve then i will use my Zaino!

This look like a decent deal if you dont have any applicators or MF cloths:-

Great looking motor.

Still my fave combo - black and elipsoids (same as my first Z) - looks great with the red leather.

Nice one and welcome!

Andy, welcome, a lovely looking car and colour combo, same as my first Z4  Now get yourself down to the Midlands Breakfast Club meet tomorrow and show your new baby off!

Wow what a friendly bunch! :)

Thanks so much for the really warm welcome and all the nice comments on the cars.
