Goodbye Old Friend

Sorry for your loss, but you've done the right thing. Its horrible & is the worst part of dog ownership by far. Dogs truly are a family members & give you so much unconditional love. You'll have plenty of fond memories to look back on.

My wife Sue & I have always had dogs from childhood & we've had 3 (with gaps between) during our marriage. I cried like a baby when when we lost the previous two. Our current dog Lilly is so affectionate & just loves everyone she meets. I'm retired now so spend more time with Lilly than I do with Sue  . Lots of walks etc. can't beat it. We rescued her at 18 months & she's 6 now so a good few years left in her yet. Here's a pic of the big softy.

What a lovely dog! She has a look of our old girl. Similar colours but with a beard. We still have our little Cavalier. I bought her as a surprise for my wife who had always wanted a pup. Whereas the Setter was quiet, gentle and sensitive (like me!). Ruby is like a bull in a china shop.92457102-D5A2-49CC-8431-6ECE209C7FB5.jpeg246B2484-0730-42A0-9CCA-240C04D747B8.jpeg

Thanks & yes I can see some similarities, Lilly is a labradoodle and a far cry from a Gordon Setter (beautiful breed). I must say though she looks a bit short haired in your photos to what I expected. Had she been clipped? Both look lovely dogs & they all have their own character don't they? We really fell on our feet with Lilly, you never really know what you're going to get with a rescue but she's turned out an amazing dog. So laid back & frightened of nothing. All the best  .

Yes we had Beauty clipped and shampooed regularly. Living in rural Lincolnshire and walking in the fields every day it was much easier to keep her clean. That photograph was taken relatively recently but during the last month she lost nearly 8kg. She was hardly recognisable as the same dog. Thanks for your kind thoughts. Some nice folk on this Forum.
