£1800 is a fair old wedge for insurance but basically if you can afford it, then you don't need to ask anyone on here, it's your call.
Personally when I first started driving at 18 (1997) I was paying £600 Third party, fire and theft on a Ford Escort that I bought for £550, living in east london!! My stereo set-up was worth more than the car! lol. That said, the thoughts of paying £1800 for insurance now would put me off, well, in fact, I just wouldn't pay that kind of premium........... I'm aware this is of no help as I've just totally contradicted myself....
