Go on then - who have you met ?

Once sat next to Elizabeth Taylor in a pub in Oxford when she was married to that US politician (forget his name) and they came to watch Richard Burton in a play there - prior to that her and Burton often used to play billiards in a pub near Wallingford. People were almost scared to ask for her autograph but a few did and she was really nice - and incredibly beautiful. I accidentally tripped up Mariella Frostrup a few years ago while traipsing round London, then nearly squashed Richard Hammond when he was sat on the steps outside Liverpool St Station.

Often used to see drummer Cozy Powell as he lived in the same village (Harwell) as my grandparents but saddest was probably Brian Connolly (lead singer of Sweet) who I often saw about Uxbridge when he was in the last stages of the illness that finally killed him.

A couple of randome unplanned encouters come to mind.

Bumped into Nigel Mansel on Board HMS Illustrious many years ago.
Said a quick hello to Sade Adu whist she was sitting on a pile of luggage at Heathrow Airport, after a flight in from the States.

Went to sixth form with fearne cotton..... But this is obviously before she was on telly/ radio!
When I was growing up lived down the road from Linford Christies and John Suche; Met both of them a few times in the shops.
A friend of mine works for the radio 1 so occasionally dishes out free backstage passes for gigs.... So I've shook hands with the Saturday's, girls aloud, coldplay...and snow patrol.

But my most random.... A few years back, was in HMV with some mates.... And we were looking at the chart CD's and the girls aloud greatest hits was pretty high up there.... And one of us said "greatest hits.... When have Girls Aloud even had a single great hit" just then we turn around and see Sarah Harding behind us
who's Sarah Harding :tumbleweed:

[quotedoes look ="Spud"]Stalker alert![/quote]

Oops ! Does look a bit like that - no I'm not a stalker honestly !

Trying to improve my list but can't come up with much other than ex Home Secretaries ( need to get out more )

Could extend my list to :

Merlyn Rees ( same time as when we saw the Queen - he was following behind her - surprised how scruffy he looked ! )

Ken Clark ( can't remember if he was ever Home Sec but saw him being interviewed across the Thames outside Westminster - he was in opposition at the time so had no minders or virtually anyone around him )

Willie Whitelaw ( at a reunion do that he attended - he was at the bar and I needed to get past and foolishly I touched him politely on the arm to ask if I could pass and all his protection team suddenly surrounded me !

Thats my list exhausted.

The Queen,
Prince Charles,
Princess Anne
Prince Andrew,
David Jason,
Keith Chegwin,
Vince Vaughn,
Ewan McGregor,

Met and spoke to all of the above,
Vince Vaughn being the most obscure as was stood next to him In a casino in Vegas passing the time of day, But had no Idea who he was or that he was famous, did wonder why everyone was looking at us, My wife knew who he was and found it hilarious that I had no Idea that I was talking to a hollywood actor.

I've waited till now before posting but it looks as if I am going to be the first to say Margaret Thatcher.I even bought a new suit for the introduction. Most of my mates said I shouldnt meet her on principle but my point was I had an opportunity to tell her what she was doing wrong. How stupid of me,I never got a word in,she did most of the talking.I also met Dennis.I thought he was a decent enough chap.Others include Bonny Tyler, Chyrl Smith,Queen Mother,Frank Thornton-------O dear going to stop showing my Age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only ones i can remember are,
Matthew Marsden (ex Corrie and was in Black Hawk Down) i was in a pub in Lincoln and he was playing the fruit macine with a few mates,

The woman who played Kim Tate in Emmerdale she held the door open for me at a garage at the bottom of Poole bank nr Harrogate,

I got introduced to Clive Mantel (ex Holby City or Casualty one of the two ) he used to live in the same village were the in-laws live,Peter Gabriel has his studio in the same village but have yet see him out and about but maybe one day.

Not exactly A listers but a celeb is a celeb

Mario from The Only Way is Essex in a nightclub a few weeks ago.
I was at The Dorchester Hotel in London on September and shared a lift with David Hasselhoff.
Once stood next to Hulk Hogan in WHS at LAX airport.
Jade Goody in a shop.
Sat on a table next to Joe Jonas (from the Jonas brothers) at Fred Segal in LA.
There's quite a few other people i've too but can't remember them off the top of my head right now.

Evening reception with Lord BLAIR (previous Met Police Commissioner)
HM Queen (little 'gong' thing at the palace)
HRH Prince Andrew (same military training course - he's a pompous arse!)
Prince Charles - during Navy service - good guy, buys the beers unlike the above
Steve PHILLIPS, lives just up the road and a good guy (guitar and vocals with Mark KNOPFLER in the Notting Hill Billies)
Sir Ronnie FLANAGAN - retired CC of RUC/PSNI, not a lot of time for him - talks a good fight!
Barroness Scotland - Attorney General. Briefed her (easy) on several issues but she too f**k all notice

...... and the best of this bunch is Steve Phillips, great blues guitarist and plays for free in Robin Hoods Bay north Yorkshire every Tuesday night. A dam good evening out if you fancy a drive.
