Go on then - who have you met ?

A bit bored now Christmas is over so thought up this one - someone "famous , infamous or a celebrity over the years we have met or stood next to at some time?

I'll start :

The Queen - passed by my wife and I - she spoke to the man next to us and he was so dumbstruck he didn't say anything ! she is really small and I'm very tall so I don't blame her at all for ignoring me !

Douglas Hurd - when I was working in London I used his private lift to get out of the building quicker than using the stairs - the doors opened and there he was with his "minders" - he was the Home Secretary at that time - he had to wait till I got out but he did say good morning !

Jet Harris in an amusement arcade when I was a boy - now he was small and even as a boy I was like a giraffe!

Rather an obscure bunch but there you go I have led a sheltered life!!

I'm sure you can all beat these.

Wracking my brains here...

The Queen, visited my school in Scotland in 1985 when it was 125 years old... I was part of a fencing (swords, not woodcraft... ) display

Damon Hill, said hi and shook his hand at a Brands Hatch F3 Corporate hospitality event in 2009 ; 10 years before I saw him in - Sports Bar in Roppongi, Tokyo, having a few shandys after the Japanese Grand Prix. He is very, very short...

Met Daniel McKenzie at the same brands event, at the time he was F3 National Class Champion, and my son got to sit in his car (one of the best photos I have of him, the look of joy is unmistakable :driving: )

Sat on the next table to John Madjeski (founder of Autotrader) in a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur in 2009 - not really famous or a celeb, but seriously minted.

... Can't think of anyone else right now. Great thread though - bet there will be some fantastic posts.

Not actually met, but used to see regularly around the town (until one died and one moved...)

'Q' from James Bond

and...wait for it.... Don Powell, the drummer from Slade who never really made any dosh because he never got any song royalties. He must HATE Christmas when that bloody Slade record comes out every year (Noddy Holder's pension!).

What an exciting place to live :D

Alan shearer at Manchester airport when he was England captain and setting off for a match.

Debbie Harry in a club in Camden Town when they were at the height of success. grrrrrrrrrr

Tony Blair who came to a presentation by my then employer, it was a visual presentation on large multiple screens he came over and thanked me for operating the different presentations,,,,,,, i had nothing to do with it and had only been brought in to boost the numbers

and Bruce Foxton in Gosforth Chippey just after the jam slpit up.. he was there with the guy from stiff little fingers,,,, showin my age now....

Richard Wilson (Victor Meldrew "I don't Believe it") sat next to me in a concert, he started talking to me, seemed like a nice guy, waiting for someone around him to say his catch phrase but luckily no one did.

Graham Hill ...... when I were a lad he came to my school :D

Benazir Bhutto ..... shared a plane from Karrachi to Islamabad (besides her and her mob there were only 2 other passengers, apparantly folk wouldn't travel on the same plane she was on....... :D )

My ex wife ........ a celebrity in her own right. Was actually satan's blood sister.

My present wife ....... she's a celebrity in her own lunchtime.

Midge Ure-backstage at one of his many gigs we have seen
Chuckle Bros-i got pulled on stage and flanned in Scarborough
Sally Webster(from corrie)-at a car show we were at
Audrey Roberts(from corrie)-on the ferry to IOW

Teamemenracing's post reminded me of one - Ewan McGregor was 2 forms above me at my school.

Also played rugby against Gregor Townsend at school when he was fly half for the South District XV and I was blind side flanker for the Midlands District XV. Knocked him down twice, both off line outs

And finally, for now :D , when Scotland were staying at the St. Andrews Old Course Hotel prior to the 1991 Rugby World Cup, I took part in one of the hardest training sessions of my life run by (then) Head Coach Ian McGeechan and Captain David Sole.
