Getting used to driving a z4

I am hopefully going to get a z4 soon. One thing i have noticed is the front looks a lot longer than most cars. In reality is it a lot longer? Does it take time getting used to? Has anyone had any bumps due to it?

Thanks guys

Yes it's pretty long.... but you do get used to it.

The bonus is you can check your rear tyre tread depth from the drivers seat by opening the door...

It's actually a small car, bonnet is quite long. I was afraid about parking my car at my house as it is very tight gettin round the corner, but the zed has a great turning circle! Go buy one you won't regret it!!!

I have always wondered why the Zs don't have front parking sensors. I am really glad to hear about the tight turning circle. I will be parking mine in my flat's underground car park. It is very, very tight and 60% of residents have scratched their car coming out.

the bonnet is not long, its very long lol and you will get used to it

i find i still have not got used to the rear, i have parking sensors which i never really pay much attention to, i often park up thinking i am quite close, then on getting out and having a look, i find i could have parked another car in the gap

its a wonderful feeling when your driving seeing the bonnet streching out in front of you .I came from a mini and got used to it within a very short time.

Compared to a saloon the bonnet isnt that long... its just the rear is non existent!

The overall length of the car isnt that long.... its similar to my mates Mk6 golf... except the front seats are where the rear seats are on the golf!!

I have had mine two week and I too worried about the bonnet alot!

It's been fine and I also park it in a flat underground carpark. I tend to reverse into spaces as it seems easier to judge (under judge!). There's been a few times where I parked going forward and I have been literally an inch away from scraping the bumper on the kerb! ( bumper is lower than most kerbs)

You'll be fine! :-)

Yes the bonnet is long but very impessive. I took a while to get used to it, being very low to the ground makes it seem like a football pitch in front of you. The front parking sensors are a great help and in my case have an added bonus as I know that if I drive up to my garage doors until the sensor bleeps once I have just enough room to open the doors without having to move the car. I never put the car in the garage as it is full of what "her in doors" calls junk.

It's easy- within 5 mins u will be fine

X2 It really isnt an issue when parking, I find it more annoying when you cant see pulling out of junctions until your nose is sticking out onto road, but that is only at certain junctions.

The speedboat style front is part of the fun. Set the seat as low as possible and enjoy the ride, as others have mentioned you get used to it very quickly and is only really an issue when you're poking out of junction. I always reverse park as it's just easier in this car. It's always amusing stepping into another car once you've driven the zed regularly as you feel so high up and forward in a car without a massive front end!

i found the bonnet easy to get used to. the worst thing is the near side corner, because sat low down means it's difficult to see. especially when parking and turning left out of narrow junctions.

other than that, it's great ! and yes you can check the rear tyre depth whilst sat in the drivers seat !

Welcome to the forum.

The length is fine once you get used to it  Just take your time to start with and then it just becomes second nature.

Its the rear visibilty thats the bitch as Easty says. Ive dropped the roof before to park as i just couldnt see anything.

Pure Flith haha.

You do realise we are talking about cars...?

I really like feeling like I'm sat over the rear wheels. I can't explain why I do.. I just do!
