Really good result - back to square one but at least at no cost and an experience gained and a warning shared with others.
Regarding more power in a 35is I really can't see how it can be exploited on the road, or even a track. The chassis/handling on these is, IMHO, only just coping with the existing power and without mechanical changes any power increase will be wasted - except for the straight line traffic light Grand Prix and/or bragging rights down the pub!
If the addition of a LSD and better tyres etc. isn't attractive how about spending money on high performance driving courses. I'm not talking about track experiences in supercars I'm talking about proper instruction in how to drive bloody quick but in safety. It's a route I have followed and it's been worth every penny.
This is of course a very good point, which is why I am getting all the suspension/LSD/brake parts sorted before adding power.
I drove the car today, roof down, 14c, gleaming in the sun after a wash, and it really is bonkers fast in a straight line, it's tramlining, DSC is kicking in - feels like an American muscle car out of control. Not to mention I'm breaking the law in a few seconds - why would I need more?
I think it comes down to curiosity, same as the OP - it's not like he will use 370 on every traffic light, on every overtake. Cars for many of us here are a hobby, interest and passion - we see this engine under the hood and I visualise a go-kart with a screw under the accelerator pedal stopping me from pushing it all the way down (traumatised as a kid with this exact experience!)- I want to try it in "beast" mode, even for a little while. I would no doubt keep the car in map 0 for most of the time anyway, but when I hit the autobahn and I want to stretch its legs - it becomes another beast. We want to get to know the car is all its glory.
I'm also interested in MHD from the logging perspective. I've just sorted my OTG cable and have managed to connect to the ECU - about to buy the logging module and upload to the N54tech forum to see what they think of the logs. I noticed the car is a bit rough on idle and running a bit rich - interested to find out more. The flash/mapping isn't always about pretending to be in The Fast and The Furious movie

Interestingly the DME reported a fault, something to do with battery drain. Could be my phone connected to the USB or my Halo LED lights...have to check more.
I guess it's no different to your wife putting on that blonde wig and stockings every now and then ... new woman and all that
