Getting sky+HD fitted in the morn-

i have sky HD 3d and i think its really good, very pleased with it but i cant lie.... the 63 quid per month makes me feel ripped off......

we had it for a year (before HD and never +) just werent watching it enough to justify the cost. they sounded so shocked when we cancelled :roll:

Sky only supply HD boxes now which is good as they all come with the new EPG. The basic box is HD but you dont need to have a HD subscription, doesnt have RF outs either which is abit rubbish if you want to use a sky eye in another room. I've just moved house and signed up for everything, Sky+ HD, Multi room, Movies/Sports etc, Unlimited broadband and phoneline. Would of cost £91 a month but i got a friends and family discount code which gives you half price for 12 months (on some products) so its worked out to £51 a month instead.

Anyone tried Anytime+ yet, my broadband is being activated today so looking forward to trying it out.

I can always see the difference in Sky HD ... but it varies by programme ... not all progs shown on the HD channel were made in HD and obviously it's only the 'true' HD that really makes the difference.

There is a setting in the TV guide that will highlight the progs made in HD (it turns the programme name orange in the listing)

All in all it's certainly worth the upgrade ... IMHO ...

We got a Humax Frewiew HD Recorder and it's awesome. As stated by others, we just couldn't justify the cost of Sky + HD etc.

Absolutely agree with the compression on "HD" TV but it is better than regular TV. No comparison to a decent Blue ray though. HDMI for the win

Saying that alot depends on the production etc, Dr Who's is excellent but compared to some of the Wildlife programs (Planet Earth springs to mind) the images are truly breath taking.

Sky will let you have a 'deal' every 12 months such as half price movies or similar. Just need to phone up and say your thinking about cancelling and moving to virgin. :wink:

On a different note, just got a letter from sky today, saying as im a long standing, great customer etc etc they are going to upgrade my sky HD box to a new one for free, just have to ring them and see what the catch is now

I'm thinking about the HD freeview package from Sky: 200 quid installed for SkyHD box and dish, no further subscriptions. Seems ok value given the price of a freeviewHD box alone.

Just unsure I'll get the full benefit though as we've got a 42" plasma that's only 720p. Didn't bother with full HD tv at the time as had no intentions of going for a blu-ray, but that might change...

Be warned if your talking about "Freesat from SKY" which I think you are then if you wan to use your box to record tv or use any of series link or such like facilities then you hav to pay SKY £10 a month to activate it. Don't get caught out like other people.
