Wow - appreciate you asked for advice (which you've gotten)... But what I want to know is - what colour, interior and options did you go for ? Please say Valencia Orange 8)

 :)

Each to their own Kryton - I'd have a yellow one too, but that's just how I roll 8)

(Says the man in the black car  )

I was just :stir: this is someone that was going to purchase an Orange McL 12c

I am afraid I have gone rather boring in my old age and have chosen mineral grey. Valencia orange certainly is striking but my it wouldn't suit my rather dull apparel :|

If I had been 15 years younger I would certainly have gone for the orange and black top. Very sexy! :D Having said that Quadracer's yellow is equally eye catching!

One last question. Service inclusive..... that's ok to have I hope, not like the seal and protect rip off?

Cheers all :)

Definitely get the service inclusive... Several hundreds of pounds later over the last four years makes me wish I had!

:D Are you for real, not a rip off? Is this actually possible?? :D :D :D

Genuine thanks for this advice!

Well I've probably spent well over £1000 on servicing over the last 3-4 years. So, unless they want more than that (and last time I looked it was about £500) go for it!

If you intend on keeping the car service inclusive is a great option.

Just check if it is fixed or long life.

Saves you doing what I did! Pulling up for a service after 12 months, taking the courtesy car and being called back 1/2 hr later to say car is not read for a service, come back after another 9k miles.

I had the car 2 yrs and didnt even get a service out of it.

I dont do the miles as you've provably guessed but dont assume you take it 1ce a year like I did. Not that theres an issue with that if your intending to keep the car long term :)

Well as an example, at 2 years it needed brake fluid (£80). At 2.5 years its first oil and filter change (£300) and then more recently at nearly 4 years it needed oil filters spark plugs you name it (£550). All condition based and all sooner that I would have liked (22K miles) because I do so many very short journeys. Having said that, nothing more to do until 2015 now thankfully.

Well I said no to all of these 'extras' because they were expensive and seemed to have a lot of small print , I have service inclusive but only because I got it for 'free' .

Update: :x I went in Stephen James to sort paperwork and the hard sell continues despite me saying I am not interested in the care pack or the seal and protect. I was even given a demonstration of the seal and protect on a custom made piece of upholstery which had water poured on it in front of me, and guess what.... it beaded and kind of rolled off but some soaked in  :) :D

It left me feeling a little like was on the receiving end of an episode of only fools and horses.....

When I asked about what they do to the bodywork for £450 I was told 'they first strip off the protective layer applied at the factory' :o and then apply a sealant which lasts 3 years which they would be happy to reapply without further cost should any problems occur.

Despite me saying that I had done some research and was really not interested, the sales person kept saying 'we like to keep things in house' :x

I am so very much looking forward to the car but this is such a dampener on things. I am so annoyed :headbang:

Any tips on how to categorically say NO?

Yep - tell the cretins that if you hear one more word of hard sell on stuff you don't want you'll cancel the order and go somewhere where "you don't have to put up with this bullshit". That should do the trick! :)

 good plan!

tell them that you have already sourced the exact same spec car with another dealer with a similar delivery date, without all the add ons and has thrown in the service pack for free!.....then see what he says....hopefully he will shut up and just might throw in the service pack to keep you from walking! :D

I also have had the cover for small body damage on my 120d and they rejected my claim as the chips had to be smaller than 1.5mm and I had 2 on the bonnet that were 2 mm....so that was a waste of money also kerbed both my alloys and had to take pics and after 2 weeks was told that a courier would pick the wheel up and take them to their factory for repair as they were diamond cut.....so a lot of hassle and would be without a car for at least 5 days and didn't have any axle stands to have both wheels off at the same time!.....in the end took it into local BMW dealer and bought the Z4 that was in the showroom!!!

Just interested in how you managed to the service inclusive for 'free'? That would be real bonus as well :)

 Small print, just as I thought, not worth the paper it is written on. I will give them one thing. They are persistent!

I had value that I wanted for my old car and after a bit of negotiation we were still £500 apart so i said give me service pack for free or im going home and he said yes , I guess he did that because it doesnt actually cost them £450

with regard to the other add-on's even though i politely but firmly said no when ordering , on pick-up day he still had another (unsucsessful) try to sell them

Hi mate, the Seal & Protect is a good option but too pricey. You could go to a detailing company for that price and have it done by experts rather than a snotty nosed kid on the local YTS scheme.

I tried to get it free on my Z35is but failed but the tout the stuff in the boot anyway so I got it free in the end and did it myself

Ok!! Two days to go and I'm receiving a brand new 35is!! :D

A few questions for the experts if no one minds:

1. Is there a recommended 'running in' period?
2. I am figuring it would be better to fill up with super unleaded to squeeze out the very best performance?
3. Any other things I should be aware (ok very random but some of you may have some hot tips- I was driving a substantially less powered 2005 Z4 2.0 se before this!).

Any advice would be very appreciated :)

Incidentally the dealers did back right down on the care pack and seal and protect options after the really great advice I received from many forum members on this thread so my heartfelt thanks to you all. Collectively you have saved me a lot of hard earned cash and I am indebted to you all :D

Thanks

JC :D :D :D
