It is a bit tricky, my guess is the current car will pay for about 50% of the new car if I go for 35i.

What makes it even trickier is still quite like my car. The first time I saw a Z4 Coupe I said to myself I got to have that car, though wasn't a big fan of roadster version. I know the ride can be a bit twitch but I am hoping that will get sorted with new set of tyres as I am told non-RFTs work quite well and new RFTs are much better too.

The first time I had a close look at the new Z4 I was at the dealers getting my wife's car serviced, i didn't quite like it; it looked a bit lardy and the sales guy told me sports seats and steering were not available, two of my favorite bits from my car. Over time I have started liking the look and the dealer has been bombarding me with emails saying there is an M Sport version now available with sports seats and steering.

So I guess the question is will I like new Z4 enough to justify about £20K I will need to spend on top of my car's value?

Cheers

You know, we must have the same views as that it almost what I thought when I first saw the new Z4 at launch. I didn't like it overall. Loved the interior and the front end, but couldn't get on with that rear! Saw one in Black and it changed my mind!

Also I never liked the old roadster Z4! Never even noticed a Z4 at the dealers until the Coupe came out!!

Had the same dilemma about my Coupe also, and I'd just had it serviced! I had to put around £15,000 to mine for the 35i.

Never regretted doing it though! Having a twin turbo, 3ltr straight 6 engine sounds good in the pub also!! :P :D

Interesting results from the poll

Personally, I've always tended to go for a smaller 6 cylinder engine, and don't hold back when specifying the optional extras. I don't need to get to 30 or 70mph "as fast as possible", and find the 2.5i in the sDrive 23i more than adequate enough for my needs. Perhaps I'm just not a proper sports car driver though... :D

If you like the fast throttle response of your E86 coupe, go for the 30i.
The manual gear box is great.
The adaptive suspension is a must.

BUT, go for a test drive first!

After thinking about it for a bit I decided I will keep my current car for another couple of years saveup and hopefully get Aston Martin Vantage (probably used). What convinced me was the pricing of new M Sport version the dealer sent me, once I configure 35i M Sport to the same options I have at present it comes to about £42K. And even though I think Z4 are good cars i believe one can get better cars for that money.

Faster maybe but not always better.

I love Aston's and one day I hopefully will own one, but I bet it won't be as reliable as my Z4.

The Z4 prices new are getting a bit silly I admit!! :?

I have the sport package on my '09 e89 and I am sure it has sports seats included. All I know is they are virtually the same as the ones that were in my M3 except better. These have the electric lumbar adjustment and width adjustment.

Well when I got my current z4 I did negotiate and was able to get £5K off, told the sales guy I will place order then and there if he were able to give me the price I asked for. I went away to "talk to his manager" and 5 mins later I was placing the order :) at the price I wanted.

Maybe I just am not feeling motivated enough this time.

Cheers
