UKIP got 12.6% of the vote and 3rd highest number of votes overall, yet only 0.15% of the seats :headbang:

At least the Jock Nationalists wont be able to hold the UK to ransom moving forwards which is a huge relief -I suspect a large proportion of Scottish people voted SNP to merely stuff the English rather than anything to do with their policies . As it transpired they merely helped the Tories on their way to another term in power . I guess there is bound to be another referendum after the next Scotingland elections .

I don't think it's a straight forward as that, not all jocks are nationalists and not all nationalists are UK separatists.
No to another independence referendum because it's already been rejected 1st time round.

Just highlights a majorly missed opportunity for labour, and that lib dems can't fool people twice, surprising result all round

They've mariginalised themselves from UK politics and no doubt will blame the English Tories for it !

Fair point there -the SNP wont go for another referendum until they can be sure that they will def win -but they will still have it in their manifesto as a joker to play

Never mind the overall result, the best part was ed balls being kicked out!

Anything else was a bonus

(Balls was the fella who said "who cares" when they raised some tax or other - he was referring to its effect on the British public!)

HAHA :D first thing i googled this morning over my juice & toast was to see if he'd been outed . The idea of the 2 Eds in charge of the country was laughable at best & fukin scary at worst
Best outcome for the country today & here's hoping they place another muppet in charge of the labour party ( Mrs Balls apparently being mentioned  )

I not a fan of the SNP, and nor would I have voted for independence if I was given the option. However for some reason I find this statement slightly offensive...

No, Harriet Harman would be the best choice. She would destroy the party completely

I did indeed watch the Ed Balls destruction live, could not miss it when I heard there was a chance

Now Paddy Ashdown needs to eat his hat as well as he said publicly yesterday?

It all turned when that knobend Milliband said he thought the last Labour gov did not spend too much.

Fcuking clueless moron !

Like it or not Mr Bing there is a significant anti-English sentiment in Scotlingland at the moment and it was fuelled by Ms Surgeon and Mr Salmon telling the public how there were going meddle in Westiminster by doing a half Nelson on Labour . I don't see why you find that offensive as a Scot ,it's just stating the bare facts . It was the malignant influence of the Nationalists on labour which cost helped the Tories cross the line ,so for that I am most grateful .

Unfortunately what you need to realise is there is a high proportion of Scots who will never vote Tory due to the Poll tax and they keep living in the past over that. They've had years of labour but honestly they actually sounded like squabbling children at times, shouting, butting in and didn't give the impression of a party you'd want to vote for and many just wanted to give them a kick up the jacksay to show that they shouldn't take it for granted that they will happily win their seats in Scotland like they have done for many years. Doesn't really leave them too much to then vote for of you discount the Tories and the Labour Party.

The Scottish Parliament elections are next year but there is no guarantee that they will get a majority government. People missed the fact they said there would be a referendum on the subject and I'm sure that will be at the forefront of a lot of people's minds which may sway them in another direction if there is a decent offering.

I don't think that Scotland would be anything like it currently is if independent. Major business would move and that's a fact. We saw what happened to oil prices not long after so there goes the SNPs we will use money from oil speech fecked.

Only 1.6 million people voted for the SNP of which I was not one of them. I would rather vote for the party I want to govern the country. A vote for the SNP in my eyes was a wasted vote and if you wanted Ed to be prime minster then why not just vote Labour. SNP wouldn't have held the country to ransom because nobody would do business with them. Whilst they want Trident out whilst we continue to have tensions with Russia is just madness and not something that the Tories and Labour Party would give up.

There are a minority of people north of the border, as there is south that think that they are hard done to because of their benefits have been cut. If you genuinely need them, then you will get everything that you need and be able to live. The people who moan are the ones who want to sit on the arse all day doing jack all and expect and possibly do have a better lifestyle than most people. This minority would vote SNP, if they did vote because for some reasons people didn't realise that voting for the SNP wouldn't really have much impact on anything in Westminster apart from giving Mr Cameron another bite of the apple and continue on the path we've already wander down and for me that shows you the mentality of the people voting SNP. They were told that labour would do no deal. Tories didn't really say they wouldn't but the SNP said they wouldn't go with them so voting the SNP was only going to have one real outcome.

I've already said today I would like to say that common sense has prevailed today but some of the people of Scotland who did vote have just baffled me but due to their actions I am well chuffed that Dave is back in power and by a majority. Even if it was slim but it will do for me.

On another note over 3 million people voted UKIP however our system meant that although the 3rd most popular party they only got 1 seat whilst 1.6 million votes in Scotland transpired to be 56 SNP seats. It's just wrong and THAT also needs to change!

You are correct. However on the other side of the coin there is also very much an anti-Scottish sentiment too and I've witness that on many an occasion over the years but more and more since the whole referendum talk and I've seen it on here too. To be honest if people don't like a particular nationality that's fine but sometimes the views expressed are just uncalled for. Then genuinely nice people end up being branded the same because one prick decided they couldn't keep their opinion to themselves. In my eyes there is no place for these views on either side.

I think you're being a bit harsh on people who have to take benefits to survive - there are many folk out there who through no fault of their own end up in difficult circumstances and can't get work . If the SNP really wanted to bring prosperity to Scotland they should make it a tax haven to attract all the wealth and in particular big business there . I guess that's not in keeping with their left wing politics . In fact that would attract a lot of investment from England and the best brains and wealthiest people would move north of the border and Scotland would be the envy of Europe . As it happens they want to do the complete opposite which will result in Scotland becoming like Greece- Esepcially if the safety net of Daddy's cheque book is no longer where once they become independent .
Having said all that you have to take your hat off to the SNP and especially Nicola who did a fine job in convincing Scots to give them a land slide . Labour would do well to take some lessons from the SNP .
